every week some fans start a thread about how their team is going to beat up on the mighty pats, but I see no miami homers utter so much as a peep this week.

you'd think miami, of all these teams, would at least have something to brag about.

miami fans have been demoralized for about 20 years now.

they watched possibly the greatest QB of all-time waste away while the team did nothing to help, watched marino get shoved out the door, followed by 10 years of folly.

the team gave 2nd round picks to acquire aj feeley and lamar gordon.

ricky walked right before training camp.

they gave a 2nd round pick to get daunte, then cut him just before he got healthy.

they drafted a punt returner with the #9 pick in the draft.

the only thing to excited about over the last 10 years is an over-rated, awful when it matters defense (incidentally, the players haven't changed that much over the last 10 years. now it's an incredibly old, over-rated defense)

the list goes on.

this is a franchise that has it's fan's pining for the days of dave wannstedt. think abou that.

how excited would you be?

As a Dolphins fan I can tell you we have nothing to brag about. At this point, even starting a thread about beating the point spread would be a real leap of faith.

;) For a second there, I almost felt just a slight twinge of remorse for Dolphin fans. Almost anyway. That was until I get the vision of the old, rat-******* remnants of the '72 team getting together every year for their champaign toast. I can't wait for the Pats to run the table so we never, ever have to see that "time honored tradition" again.

According to Don Shula, who should know, the "tradition" is an urban legend.

Somebody is going to beat the Patriots, and I think it's likely to be the Dolphins, Jets, or Bills. I'm not certain it's going to happen today even as a Dolphins fan because this team did just get spanked by a team the Patriots spanked, but stranger things have happened.

It is a pathetic time for those of us who are Dolphins fans, though. It looks like this team will struggle to match the team record low of 4 wins in the NFL era and could even have trouble matching the all time team record low of 3 wins.

 
The blame starts and ends with Jimmy Johnson handing the job over to Dave Wannstedt. Wanny is a joke as a head coach.

Tough being a 'Fins fan...blow it up and start from scratch!

Actually, my complaint with Wanny is with him as a GM far more than him as a coach. He ruined several drafts and put Rick Spielman in a position where Rick had to gamble quite a bit that final year because he knew if he didn't give Wannstedt several new quality players, both of them would be fired. He's certainly no great head coach, but his work there was passable because he had the good sense to bring in coordinators like Jim Bates and Chan Gailey.

1. I know the Fins did not give up a 2nd rounder for Lamar Gordon. I am pretty sure it was a 3rd. Still absurd though.2. The last 10 years not been "folly", and the fans have not been suffering for 20 years. Without looking it up, I think Miami had 4 or 5 losing seasons in the past 30 years. Not making the playoffs but going 10-6, 9-7 is not what I would call "suffering". Ask a Lions or Cardinals fan what suffering is.3. They drafted a WR who is starting today with their 9th pick. Not a punt returner.4. No Dolphin fan is pining for Dave Wannstedt. If they are, they should be committed to an asylum.We are however a pretty bitter bunch for the past 4 years, and you were correct about the defense, and about the wasted talent of Marino.Miami 27 - New England 24. Now I should be committed to an asylum.

some of that was said in jest.i think you are right about it being a 3rd rounder for gordon. either way, it was ridiculous.not pining for dave wannstedt? is there a dolphins fan out there that wouldn't take a 9-11 wins a year right now?i called it suffering b/c to me, in some ways, a guaranteed 9 wins with no shot of really mattering (along with preseason predictions of mattering every year) is suffering. being over-rated every single year and disappointing every year is suffering. being just good enough to make you care every year is suffering. for some that may not be suffering, but i think it's worse than some franchises that genuinely get excited about a 7 win season. there's excitement and rarely disappointed.

Dave Wannstedt set the table for the suffering we're going through right now. He won a few games with the team Johnson left him and left in his wake a team devoid of decent players from his tenure. He was in control for the 2000 through 2003 drafts. The best player selected by the team was Chris Chambers. The second, third, and fourt best players were Todd Wade, Randy McMichael, and Yeremiah Bell. Those are pretty much the only decent players the team chose in the draft under Wannstedt's control (Morlon Greenwood and Arturo Freemen were decent, I guess). Only Bell is still with the Dolphins. Hell no, Dolphins fans don't wish for Dave Wannstedt. Let the Pitt Panthers suffer with him.

i called it suffering b/c to me, in some ways, a guaranteed 9 wins with no shot of really mattering (along with preseason predictions of mattering every year) is suffering. being over-rated every single year and disappointing every year is suffering. being just good enough to make you care every year is suffering.

for some that may not be suffering, but i think it's worse than some franchises that genuinely get excited about a 7 win season. there's excitement and rarely disappointed.

You are so right. It sucks to be a Fins fan. I was trying to rationalize why it was not so bad, but in all honesty, it is.
 
There was some mention of it in the thread about the line on the game. The Fins always seem to play the Pats tough in at least one of the games each year no matter how bad the Fins are or how good the Pats are.

 
My beloved Fins have blown dog this season.... but they WILL WIN this week. Just as I have felt they will win EVERY week. I will wear my jersey proudly today as I do every week.

I don't think you've been to many baseball games or even Miami; yes there is a predominantly hispanic population that loves their baseball but the Dolphins fill the seats up a lot more than the Marlins do by a large margin.If anything you could say it's Heat Town
