Seems like Oakland had a pretty good draft that included two tackles, plus they got Campbell so they actually have a decent QB. Does this help McFadden at all, or just present a small window of opportunity for offseason trade dumps in dynasty?
It brightens the value of ALL Oakland position players, including McFadden. He still needs to beat our M. Bush and a lot of us think Bush is more talented. Cable has been pretty clear that it is an open competition and they would like to see one guy seize the job.
The problem is Bush is going to get some touches too and could outright win the lead job.
If Cable and Co. were willing to give Fargas those touches last year, you better believe that McFadden isn't going to get handed the majority of the carries simply because of his salary or his draft pedigree.
With Fargas gone, now the Raiders only have 2 legit RB's. In this instance, McFadden even as a handcuff for Bush has tremendous value. The O line is going to be much improved and wont have to hold blocks as long, with Campbell executing the quick reads and getting the ball out quicker. McFadden needs to improve on his technique in holding the ball, he fumbles too much...really it's inexcusable.
His production is not the level you'd expect of a #4 overall pick. Yet he is definitely talented, and I like his upside still.
He has a chance to do well (low RB2) but has to stay healthy and not fumble. You can probably still pick up McFadden and Bush in redrafts for very little and you're probably going to get a good RB out of one of them.
It's a bit premature to expect significant production out of Veldheer and Bruce Campbell, no? I'm not sure Jason Campbell really helps McFadden very much, although it would be tough for anything to actually decrease DMC's stock.

Exactly... Veldheer and Campbell will need some time to develop. Obviously Campbell is a project, but if Cable can't make an NFL tackle out of him then nobody can, time will tell. Veldheer should be able to win a starting spot in training camp (hopefully) but he too will need some time to mature and get used to the level of competition in the NFL. The Raiders had a great draft but we should temper our expectations a bit. Jason Campbell is used to learning new offenses in a hurry so thats a plus, but we'll see if the OLine can keep him upright long enough to chuck it down the field to Schilens, Miller, Murphy and DHB. If they can, that should help keep the defenses honest and open up the running game for Bush and DMC. As a fan I'm not holding my breath, but keeping my fingers crossed at the same time.

it's pretty clear that the Raiders have all but given up on McFadden as a bell-cow RB..he's a 3rd down guy ...this greatly improves the abilities of Michael Bush who should be a bull in a China shop in this offense in 2010..but McFadden, not so much.

And why do you say that? All their off-season moves show that their ready to give DMC and Bush a much larger role. Bell cow, No... but I expect them to equal each other in carries and DMC to have more Recs.
DMac can be a PPR stud and this is his pivitol year. I love Michael Bush too. They will make a formidable one two punch. With a semi decent QB (Campbell) he can get plenty of production and TD's in the passing game.
DMac has a world of talent....last year he was hurt (Knee). I really can't grade him because they had no legit QB at all and that team was a complete disaster. Based on his rookie season I like his prospects. Last year was a throw away year IMO...and I don't blame him as much as others. Yes he did look pretty bad in some games...but man that team...pee uuuuu.
Again he is a strong hold in dynasty and buy low in redraft.
