Does your league allow FA acquisitions during the playoffs? (1 Viewer)

We're having quite the battle in our league regarding FA acquisitions in the playoffs. No consensus can be found. This a a 10 team league, 4 keepers.

Last season we allowed only the playoff teams to acquire FA's during the playoffs. It's a blind bid system. One owner picked up 5 kickers for the championship game to block his opponent who had a kicker that was "doubtful" going in to the championship game. IMO, that is weak sauce, but it wasn't against the rules, so we let it slide.

On top of that there was discussion about a scenario in which a player like Jerome Harrison blows up during playoff time and only playoff teams get to pick him up where a non playoff team that could use him as a keeper the following season couldn't. Though that scenario is an unlikely one, it could still happen and could be considered unfair.

With all that said, how does your league deal with playoff acquisitions? Or do you allow them at all?

Our league allows weekly waivers through the playoffs. We also limit weekly waivers to 4 per week and it's blind-bidding. The only thing we don't allow during the play-offs is trades. BTW- 10 team, IDP, keep 14 with a 44 man roster.

We allow waivers (via blind bidding) during the playoffs, but we have a rule prohibiting roster churning or player land grabs like you described with the kickers. redraft leaague, so no issues with non playoff teams grabbing players for the following year

no waivers during playoffs in keep/dynasty leagues (though it would work in redrafts).

If its a keeper/dynasty and you want to have waivers during playoffs than all teams must be allowed to sign players (even eliminated teams). I would go with a blind bid system in this case as well.

no, No, and NO

both NFFC and WCOFF stop FAAB before the league playoffs start (which is a week or two before the Championship brackets start) and obviously those are both redraft leagues.

In keeper leagues, ALL teams should be able to acquire players if any can - the Harrison example is just one of many and what one playoff team might not value as a keeper a poor team might so they should be able to pickup player the playoff teams drop as well.

I've always wondered why most dynasty leagues don't allow trades/fa pickups up through the playoffs(week 16). Being that it is a Dynasty format, this is a great time for the lesser teams to dump some of their veterans to playoff teams and help them rebuild their team for years to come. Seems like most of my leagues, the trade cut of is like week 12.

I think you answered your own question in the question on trades. Leagues don't won't teams not playing to trade to teams that are playing, especially if it is a true "dump" versus a fair market trade. IMO, waivers are a different animal and I allow them all the way through the season for some the reason mentioned other places in the thread.

Why would non-playoff teams be prohibited from picking up players during the playoffs in a keeper/dynasty league? That makes absolutely no sense, and only creates a problem where there isn't one.

I don't really understand the issue here. You say your league uses blind bidding, so how did one guy end up with the entire list of available kickers? Did the guy who needed a kicker not put in a bid on any of them, or was he just so cheap that he wouldn't even blind bid as much on one kicker as another guy was willing to spend 5 times over?

What does that have to do with this thread? The trade deadline is a completely separate thing from free agency being open/closed. I don't think anyone here is foolish enough to allow trades during the FF playoffs, but that's not what we're talking about...
He was answering my question....thanks Mod for cleaning up this thread.

Wow, I apparently missed a lot. Did not know our written conversations had to be so narrowly focued.
