Doh! Just realized something in my 3-man keeper (1 Viewer)

I've had bye week problems before, but nothing like this. In my 3-man keeper league, my clear-cut keepers all have a bye in week 3.

LT

Jordan

TO

I'm in a bind here. Do I essentially throw week 3? Do I waste a couple early draft picks on RBs instead of QB, TE or WR? Do I trade to balance it out?

I'm tempted to just draft my team as I normally would and let things just happen for week 3. The upside of having all three with a bye in week 3 is that I won't have to worry about missing 1/3 of my core team for three separate weeks--take the hit in one week instead of spreading it out.

I'm sure others are in this bind with the condensed bye weeks this year. What are you doing?

Personally, if it works out that I can get most of my guys on the same bye week I love it. I don't personally draft to this theory mind you.

I'd rather be a full strength during the season save one week. If you lose 1 ball game so what.

Most of the time you are playing not at full strength due to one guys off this week and the other is off the next and 2 more the next. It can cost you ballgames.

JMO.

Don't worry about it. I'd rather have all my players have a Week 3 bye than be 2-6 with a bunch on a Week 9 bye.

Agree with this approach. I personally think people worry too much about byes instead of drafting the best players available in the middle rounds. I don't plan for all of my key players to have the same bye week, but I don't mind if it happens "naturally". The waiver wire can help if needed so you have a complete starting lineup. Or maybe your backups will get lucky or your opponent will have a low-scoring week.Bottom line is I want the best players. Byes are very low on the list. Keep your team and scrape together a Week 3 lineup out of late picks and free agents if you can.

draft as many starters as possible who have week 3 bye's. 1 bad week vs 12 good ones. You fell into the situation, make it work for you

In my opinion having these three guys off on week 3 is a real nuissance. You now have to be 4 deep in rb starters by week 3. If this is a division game it potentially can change your draft philosophy. Instead of taking a chance on rookie rb that could take over the starting job sometime during the season you now may have to take a less than optimal player that at week 3 should start.

I prefer having most of my players with the same bye. You lose one week, but your team is at full strength for every other week. It's a good formula for making the playoffs.

I'd trade Jordan to someone who sees him as the 6th or 7th best RB, as I don't see him finishing that high.

Otherwise, I wouldn't worry about it. Though I might make sure some of my other backups don't have that same bye so I can at least field a team and maybe get lucky.

I don't care about by weeks. In fact my 3 keepers are LT, LJ, Jordan (no it is not a 2 team league and you can't join).

I figure that I will just do what I can with the rest of my roster. I was able to draft Thomas Jones, Mewelde Moore, and Ahman Green. I just hope they all will be healthy week 3 and if so, they will at least get a few carries.

Don't worry, enjoy your good keepers and good luck.
