Dolphins add RB Lee Suggs to team

DAVIE - The Dolphins, desperate for backfield help in the wake of Sammy Morris' suspension, were awarded running back Lee Suggs off waivers from the Cleveland Browns on Sunday, according to a league source.

The Dolphins do have one more spot open on their 53-man roster, so it is likely they are not done finding help at running back.

Suggs, 26, was a fourth-round pick of the Browns in the 2003 draft out of Virginia Tech. He started three of the 25 games he appeared in the past three seasons. For his career, Suggs carried 263 times for 1,048 yards and four touchdowns.

His best season was 2004, when he rushed for 744 yards on 199 carries, and had 20 receptions for 178 yards.

Injuries have been a big problem for 6-foot, 213-pound Suggs. He has missed 23 games due to injury combined the past three seasons.

So much for Suggs in the hunt for the Houston job. Unless Brown gets injured early in the year, I don't see much value here.

He'd be the clear-cut #2, no?
Yes, therefore he does have value.
I kind of agree. More value than he had, at least.
Agreed, I think the new organization will help. There is some value due to the fact that Brown has never held down a full time job, and there are still some questionmarks on how he might hold up. Houston obviously would have been better, but there is not a lot of RB depth in Miami.

As a Ronnie Brown owner, I like this. Suggs should be no threat to Brown.
:goodposting: One of my concerns for Ronnie before was him getting too many carries due to a lack of rb depth, and wearing down by season's end. Suggs will be a good change of pace back for Ronnie, but isn't good enough to steal too many carries.

makes sense for Miami to get a cheap pickup for insurance
Insurance tends to mean you have some type of replacement for a durable asset.Suggs is neither durable or an asset, unless you living in the glory of his college days so I don't see how this is insurance. :lmao:
