First off...it's week 5 he's back, not half the year. And Yes hold on to him, Lamont is doing OK but there's a long road to travel and Oak. is going to be running the ball a lot. I also picked him in my draft late and saving him for a later time....I can afford to stash him on my bench half the year, and the waiver wire is pretty clean since this is a deep league.Once he comes back, what is the likelihood he'll supplant Lamont?
Exactly. Rhodes is an average backup. Indy made him look like a stud.Brandon Jackson and Derrick Ward are the only two starting RBs who Rhode's could supplant. Jordan could start on a dozen other teams. Jordan might not have been Kiffin's player but he's notably better than Rhodes.
You are so right. Thats why the Raiders wrote that check to Rhodes. Because they expected him to sit on the bench and pine.mmm, no.The Raiders signed him because they think he can start ahead of Jorden. EP might not think so, but obviously by thier actions the raiders organization thinks soBrandon Jackson and Derrick Ward are the only two starting RBs who Rhode's could supplant. When healthy, Jordan is a stud. Rhodes is not. End of discussion.smackdaddies said:You are so right. Thats why the Raiders wrote that check to Rhodes. I agree Jordan >> Rhodes, but lets not get carried away.ExtraPoint said:Brandon Jackson and Derrick Ward are the only two starting RBs who Rhode's could supplant. Jordan could start on a dozen other teams. Jordan might not have been Kiffin's player but he's notably better than Rhodes.
The Raiders have 7.5 million reasons to start Rhodes. I hate to tell you, but your opinion is not relevant. It is the Raiders opinion that matters. End of discussionWhen healthy, Jordan is a stud. Well, in the interests of accuracy, even if the Raiders were paying Rhodes his full salary this year + his signing bonus, it's only 2.5 million, not 7.5 million. But with no game checks for Rhodes during his 4 game suspension, the Raiders are paying him just a little over 2 million this year & with the 1 million bonus no doubt being spread over the two years of his contract, he would show on the Raiders books for just a tad over 1.5 million this year. The Raiders have 7.5 million reasons to start Rhodes. There's plenty of 1.5 million bench-warmers in the NFL.
The Raiders are sure to approach Rhodes about restructuring his contract next year (no way they pay him 5 million). If Rhodes refuses to renegotiate, they'll simply cut him & carry the small cap charge of 1/2 a million from spreading his bonus. Or even better for the Raiders, just wait till after June to cut him & then only carry a 1/4 million cap charge for 2008 / 2009.
IMO, Rhodes salary is not the determining factor regarding his playing time. To me it's all about Jordan. If Jordan keeps playing like he did this past weekend + the fact that we definitely know Jordan is quite capable of being a 3 down back, Rhodes will likely come in just to give him a breather every now & then.

Rhodes will get his shot in week 5. FYI, he is being paid $2.5m this year. I would like to know other 2.5 mil bench warmers. True, they do get to spread that 1m bonus over the two years in his contract, but it is allready in DR's pocket.http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/1...ck_dominic.htmlWell, in the interests of accuracy, even if the Raiders were paying Rhodes his full salary this year + his signing bonus, it's only 2.5 million, not 7.5 million. Jordan's contract was for $27.5 million and $11 million in guaranteed money, so if you're just measuring by dollars spent, Jordan should start over Rhodes. And if you're measuring by football talent and performance in the current Raiders' offense, Jordan should also start over Rhodes. The coaches know both of these things. Rhodes will not start in Oakland unless Jordan gets injured.Rhodes will get his shot in week 5. FYI, he is being paid $2.5m this year. I would like to know other 2.5 mil bench warmers. Just as a quick FYI, due to Rhodes 4 game suspension, he's barely seeing 2 million this year, not the 2.5 million you're now saying & certainly not the 7.5 million that you initially gave as a reason for him to see the field.Rhodes will get his shot in week 5. If Jordon outplays him then, well, then Rhodes wont have been worth a roster spot on your ff team. But Rhodes will get his chance.
If you picked him up in the last 2 rounds of your draft, that to me he is worth rostering till week 5. Remember the basis of this post - "I took him in a deep draft when all the RB were gone". To me, he has a big potential upside, if you drafted him then.
LinkYou've also got to remember that Rhodes was only able to eek out a paltry 3.4 ypc last year, despite playing in a far superior Indy offense. If Rhodes could only produce at a 3.4 ypc clip behind Indy's O'line, with Peyton as his QB & receiving threats the like of Harrison, Wayne & Dallas Clark, I don't see him producing much in Oakland's offense.Rhodes' contract with the Raiders includes language that will dock his pay if Rhodes ever receives an NFL imposed suspension stemming from the arrest according to an NFL source.

Barring an injury to Jordan, I'd say Rhodes has two chances of this happening...Slim & None...& Slim just left townRhodes will get his shot in week 5.
