Don't like the way Bush is being used (1 Viewer)

I don't have a vested interest in Bush doing well, but from what I can see, I don't think tonight's game is a good indicator of how Bush will be used in the future. It's a preseason game against a tough defense, and they don't want to get their star hurt. They tried one stretch play with him on third and two, and he got stuffed. They used McAllister, and he got stuffed. Bush didn't get his second carry until the end of the first half, when he had three carries of 2, 9, and -1 yards, and two completions of 11 and 3 yards, respectively. Meanwhile, McAllister had two early carries for 3 and five yards, caught one pass for four yards, and missed another pass.

In other words, he looked OK, he didn't get used much, and they kept him healthy for the regular season opener. He's probably going to share time with McAllister, who looked decent but unspectacular. And the Dallas D looks really good. What news came out of this game?

Exactly. 2 preseason games, coaches don't want to show everything they have. It's obvious Bush will play a big role in the games, and he will share the backfield with Deuce, but why do this in the preseason? Why show your cards before the games count?

He's out there, taking handoffs, getting a feel for the speed, hitting holes, making guys miss...he's getting experience. Why does everyone want the coaches to show off their trump card when it serves no additional purpose?

Watched part of the game, and I hate this threads title.

It doesn't matter HOW he's used in the pre-season. These games are about evaluating talent and heart, not gaining touchdowns, or working on misdirection and gadget plays....PSSS...2 RB's on the field, with one splitting out to WR...is A GADGET PLAY!..not normal preseason stuff.

As far as Bush goes, I wish I had reached for him a little after seeing him leave several DB's and DE's grasping at air. The Cowboys D looks great, and with a little more talent around him Bush would have put up much better stats tonight. He made several open field moves to elude the first or second tackler that precious few RB's this side of Barry Sanders could have made. The fact that there was always a third or fourth tackler to clean up shouldn't be held against him. Even when he tried to take the corner and was "corralled", he had the defenseman beat to the inside and only went down when he saw a linebacker coming at him from the inside...a wise move in that spot.

His numbers won't be great every game because the Saints have more o-line holes then my sons pee-wee team, but his talent will find it's way to the highlight reel often this year.

For all the hype Bush got for having a good preseason game last week, somehow I suspect that he's not going to get slagged off for having a poor preseason game this week. That, to me, sounds a lot like a case of Bush owners only seeing what they want to see.
Reality check time, you're going to see plenty of Bush hate.It seems to me like the haters are grabbing for straws much more than the lovers are.
Actually, I think they're both grabbing for straws. Bush's 44 yard run against Tennessee (who, by the way, couldn't even force a punt with their first string D against Denver's second string O) no more proved that he'd be an NFL stud than his 7 yard performance against Dallas proved he'd be a bust. I think everyone's grasping here.
