Dontarrious Thomas (1 Viewer)

Mod in training
Word is that he has been getting most of the playtime today at MLB.

Stay tuned.

Vikings moving to the Tampa-2 this season so the MLB slot isn't particularly valuable. I'd be more interested to know who gets the WLB job. EJ? I sort of expected them to start the other way around and re-evaluate after the draft.

Leber was at SLB, EJ at WLB.

Now you went and got me curious... :P

Linebackers -Linebackers fly towards the ball in the new Tampa 2 defense.

-Ben Leber saw extended playing time, and looked aggressive.

-E.J. Henderson and Dontarrious Thomas both looked agressive and explosive.

Defensive Backs

-Fred Smoot was the most active player, intercepting one and breaking up a few passes. After the interception, defensive coordinator yelled, "Pep-rally is over, next play."

-Darren Sharper was active in the Tampa 2, swarming towards the ball.

The linebacker position appears to be the most unsettled as any on the depth chart as many combinations were experimented with, including Dontarrious Thomas and Napoleon Harris playing at middle linebacker.

Defensive end Kenechi Udeze, who missed most of last season because of a knee injury, returned to the practice field. Safety Willie Offord (knee) was present but did not take part in drills.
Still unclear whether it's Leber or Henderson at Will. But it almost certainly, based on size and skills, it should go...Sam Leber

Mike Thomas

Will Henderson

Vikings will get at least one backer in this draft though. None of these guys are great fits in the Tampa-2. Bunch of 240lbs with average speed.

If Henderson is moved to WLB, this will be HUGE for his fantasy value...

...unless Sims is drafted in the 1st.

Open-minded: After last season ended, E.J. Henderson expressed his desire to return to middle linebacker. But Henderson said that's no longer a priority because of the team's new defensive scheme.

"It doesn't matter where you play in this defense," he said. "Wherever they want to put me is fine, because all three positions are interchangeable."

Because the Vikings will not utilize a middle linebacker in a traditional way, Henderson is open to playing anywhere, as long as he gets a chance to start.

That's not out of the realm of possibilities because he has started 28 games over the past two seasons.

"That's how it goes when you're not a superstar in this league," Henderson said. "So the guys whose jobs are etched in stone are Pro Bowl-caliber players, and they have proven themselves. And I have yet to prove myself to be that type of player, so I have to work for everything I deserve.

"It's going to be fun."
