The best candidates appear to be

OJ Howard- Nice weekend 2nd 25 TD TD called back by penalty.....Fitz likes him and Brates snap count decreasing

Adam Shaheen- "Baby Gronk"....6'7" athletic former hoops player....Trubiskys roommate...nice past week....Zack long gone...Dion Sims has mysterious illness that Fox won't comment on...lack of competition for targets and they have been throwing more.

Ricky Seals Jones- Was WR at A/M....like Shaheen a freak size wise....2 TD last week seems to have rapport with Gabbert who looked competent....Gresham still there but need someone to throw to beside Fitz

Coby Fleener- forgotten man in NO but is he game script dependent.....will NO defense start to loosen up allowing more playing time?

Eric Enron- the ultimate enigma has been solid not spectacular last 4 weeks...any upside to be had???

Thoughts would be appreciated!

Watched the Bears game, Shaheen looked good in terms of catching tough balls, being a physical presence. Trubisky seems to spread the ball around a lot so that both helps and hurts, but liked what I saw.

Fleener had a huge day but I worry about the fact that this is an outlier game this year, not a new norm.

Personally I like Shaheen, because someone can possibly emerge as Trubisky's primary target.  I do not trust John Fox at all though.  If Sims recovers from the "mysterious illness," I'm sure Fox will play his veterans to the bitter end, because.

Nevertheless, I'm adding Shaheen this week (my TEs are Vernon Davis, Charles Clay and Hunter Henry, so why not?).

He's not there yet and still has to share with Brate, but seems like Howard is starting to show signs of why he was so highly touted coming out of college. Perhaps in a lost season, the team sees what they have in him.

I really see him as the highest upside guy out there, could end up as the 2nd option after Evans.

I am in a deeper league (16 teams), but Julius Thomas has seen a good number of targets and has decent matchups down the stretch.

OK, so much for Greg Olsen.

Witten, ASJ, RSJ, and Njoku on the wire. Brate was dropped this week, I think  he's had four straight weeks with 1 catch. James and Reed are out there.

The usual vets nobody wants (Dickson, Lewis, Watson.)

:X
