@Arodin suggested I make a new post so I'll follow his advice
We are having a problem keeping 16 owners in our dynasty league. We are thinking to downsize the league from 16 teams to 12. What is the best way to disperse the 4 teams players? FA bidding or an auction seems most logical. Thoughts?
Not sure if this would be viable or not but I had a thought that seems interesting.
Get a 3rd party to rank all the current teams staying in the league, and assign them draft slots based on "competitiveness" or how "complete" their team's are and just do a normal draft with the players from the 4 teams leaving. Worst team gets the 1.01 and do it that way. Auction works too.
What is the format of the league (salary cap or not)? If it is salary cap the best way is to do an auction and let the winning bids set the salaries of the players accordingly. It is a nice way to let the market set the value of the players. Everyone should get equal cap space for the dispersal auction.
Even if it is not a salary cap league the best way for dispersal is an auction. It allows everyone the same opportunity to get every player. It doesn't leave it up to the luck of the draw.
