Official #12 Pick Strategy Discussion (Redraft, PPR or HPPR, 12 Teams) (1 Viewer)

I generally feel the 12 pick is a significant disadvantage over a top 8 or so pick. I have seen a lot of owners get reactive with the 12 - as if they are trying to keep up. That's not my plan for the 12 this year.

Some have success with the 12 so I thought we could discuss.

Anyone want to share a roster from their draft? Or their thoughts on an upcoming draft? Please specify PPR or HPPR (half point)

Nobody? Thinking maybe I will go RB-RB. ESPN is the site for us and they are elevating RB in the rankings so hopefully score WR18 in round 3 (based on prior drafts)

Too much depends on league settings and who is left at the 1.12 to really answer this.

You are correct that ESPN has some (ahem) interesting default ADP ranking choices. Take advantage of that.

Plain vanilla redraft start QB, RB, RB, WR, WR, TE then I'm likely hoping that one of Garrett Wilson or Puka make it to me, in which case I'll go WR-RB

My "practice mock draft" team using this mindset wound up with the following first four picks, which I would be really happy with:
WR Puka Nacua, RB Jahmyr Gibbs, WR Jaylen Waddle, RB Kenneth Walker III

After that draft as you see fit - Next big decision is whether to take CJ Stroud and/or a more expensive TE (Engram, Pitts, Kittle) at the 5/6 turn, or stick with RB/WR (probably someone like George Pickens, Calvin Ridley, DMont). If you don’t use the picks on the "premium" QB/TE then you’re likely looking at Jordan Love and Njoku/Ferguson when you next pick.

Pick 11 and 12 are the worst picks for redraft this year IMO.

The first 10 picks in PPR are usually this is some order.

CMC
Lamb
Hill
Bijan
Jefferson
ARSB
Hall
Chase
Brown
Wilson

Unless you reach that forces you into a 6ish player window. Puka and Gibbs already have injuries, and it feels too early for Harrison and London. So you are left with Taylor and Barkely.

That's a nice start but that's a lot of risk in the first 2 picks.
