Dr. Gobbler welched out on his bet from year ago in this thread (1 Viewer)

What's your point? It seems to come with the territory when you're the best player on your team and play a ton of minutes. Looks like Kobe is in good company making the top 20.
Same point as why Kobe on the steals list and assist list.No need to get all bent. That is jmon's job.

So he's behind, and will probably pass, Magic Johnson in a bunch of stats. I don't think you ended up making the point you were trying to make.

You rank Kobe ahead of Magic?

Bynum is a total mess. Mike Brown may have lost him for good.
Been saying this over and over but super bandwagoners like GunZ and Sedork can't see through their purple Jabbar goggles (who they never once saw, btw). They will defend that dumb thug to no end.
The same Bynum who went for 19 and 10, and 25 and 13, on 68% shooting the last two games? That's the guy who you're saying is a total mess and is lost? And the "thug" you're talking about got 40 tonight, and happens to be a top 10 all time player?Apparently seeing Jabbar ruined your ability to analyze hoops, Chachi.
:hophead: FIrst of all, we are talking about Bynum, not Kobe. HTH

And throwing around selective statistics of different players :loco: does nothing to prove your point. Which is what, btw? That Bynum is not an idiot? Sorry, he is.

But since you bring up Kobe, let's go there. He just had his worst two shooting games of his entire career. But NO, OMG he put up 40 against the GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS TONIGHT!!!!@1! Also, he's not getting older, I swear!

Look, go on sucking Kobe's Golden State stat line teat all you want, it has nothing to do with the fact the Lakes are crumbling before your blind eyes.

Anyway, fact is Bynum is not what you keep wishing he could be. And he'll never be that guy. He's had more than enough time, yet you'll still defend your boy more than a little league parent. Of course, when he finally wears another jersey -- a day that cannot come soon enough -- you'll hate him and say it was a brilliant move by Mitch. :banned: HTH
What I wish Bynum would be right now is the starting center for the Orlando Magic. At the same time, you Bynum bashers have been clowning him for years. Now he's having a monster season (12th overall in PER)and you guys are saying he's a "thug" and that he's a "total mess"?

He'll be All NBA 2nd team this year. So while I appreciate the old timers hating on the young bucks (are his pants too saggy Sonny?), the facts don't back up the "Lakers are finished and Bynum has proven to be a bum" narrative you're pushing.

No. But the fact that there's even a conversation to be had there tells you Kobe is indeed an all time top 20ish great.

I met Bynum a couple times back when he was in HS when he at St. Joes (my brother gradauated with him). He seemed socially awkward then. How he acts today doesn't surprise me. Hes an absolute physical beast, but there is no way I seem him as a team leader and someone to build around.

Huh?Bucky insinuated that the only reason Kobe had so many turnovers was because he played a ton of minutes. Was just wondering if he thought the same thing about Kobe racking up assists and steals.

Agreed. That's why I can't believe people are calling him a "thug". Guy is a big nerd.

Lakers about to blow a 17 point lead at home against the Nets. Even if they escape, it's another embarrassing performance against a bad team.

BUT- with 6 seconds left, Kobe shoots a 3 pointer- it bounces around for a second and goes in. Kobe points an imaginary gun finger at Deron. Kobe laughs, I haven't seen him this happy in a long time. Gives Pau a hard hug.

It was certainly a thuggish thing to do. One of the most thuggish plays I have ever seen. And I have no excuse to make about it.Yet, must we define Andrew Bynum now and forever as a thug because of this play? Perhaps he is, but he's still a young man, and I don't think this defines him-yet. I know I'm probably naive, but I do believe that people can grow up and become more mature.

Holy Freakin' Goggunz! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

That was a MONSTER dunk by Blake there in the 4th qtr over Pau ... but it should have been called an offensive foul. His off arm wiped Pau out. That said, I doubt any ref calls a foul there.

he elbowed Pau in the face and then stared at him afterwards. if I was one of Pau's teammates, Griffin would have caught an elbow to the chest the next time he went anywhere near the hoop. the Lakers need someone to play the Maurice Lucas role.

Agreed. Foye reversed on Pau a possession or two later. Pau should have put him in the 6th row.

Perhaps the bench would be doing better if the Lakers traded that Dallas first rounder for an actual player they could use rather than just using it to dump Fisher's salary. They obviously could have gotten Nick Young with it, since the Clippers got him for a second.

Bynum would have stepped up... if Griffin was 6' 175lbs.

Lakers certainly have players not afraid to be enforcers in Bynum, Artest and Barnes. They played it smart not getting in trouble and just answering by winning the game.

Andrew, you big dumb oaf...
All you haterz who wanted Howard... :goggunz:
 I was driving the "trade Drew for Howard" bandwagon.
Sorry, I was still laughing at this:

Not surprising, facts aren't a big part of your repetoire. 24 yr old centers averaging 18 and 12 on 58% shooting aren't "bums" and the Lakers are the 3 seed in the West right now, hardly "finished".

Well, when that C is too immature to finish games, it's kinda hard to build around a C who still is an injury risk, a head case, and who lets small guards take him out of his game and get ejected and or suspended. But let's not let facts get into teh GogGunz dome. They never do.

I'll take that as you conceding the points since you decided to move the goalposts instead of addressing what was actually posted.

I'll take those stats as being on a team with Bryant and Gasol. The goal posts would look much bigger if those stats reflected him starting for the Warriors or Kings. But ZOMG, here comes teh bulliez ragging on Bydumbs baggy pantz!

Since when is talking trash cause for ejection? MJ would have been ejected every game.
There was an art to trash talking back then, ie subtlety. The idea is to get into his head, not show him up. Demonstrative trash talking has been a T (not an ejection) since 06-07 FWIW.

And he wasn't tosses for trash talking. He was tossed because it was his second T.

Lakers just need some time off. They are all banged up to hell. Doesn't help that Houston and Phoenix were shooting at ridiculously high percentages either.

Same thing. No one used to get that T, particularly if it would be for an ejection.

Totally agree, it's NOT Bynum's fault. And besides, he's still SO young, gosh! If people would just stop looking at his baggy shorts, then they might realize he's still putting it all together. And T's and plays like that Barea mishap are just part of the attitude and edge he really needs to be successful. Happy to see him put it altogether, finally...haterZ!

You use sarcasm, but there's truth in it. Of course MJ never would have gotten that T/ejection for talking trash back in the day. But many current veteran stars known to talk, like Kobe and Garnett, also would not have been given that T/ejection for throwing some trash talk at the opposing bench. Bynum tries to play with an edge like they do and he gets punished.
