In our league we draw names out of a hat to determine when you get to pick your draft spot. So if you are picked 1st you can have any spot on the board. With that said I believe in years past there has been different topics over draft spots. ( I believe there are other leagues that do it the same way) For conversations sake we will say this is a non ppr 12 team league. Is 1 the strongest or see a reason to think another spot is better?

After looking at some mock drafts the average top 3 rounds look something like this.

1 1.01 Arian Foster 24 2.11 Greg Jennings 25 3.01 Matthew Stafford

2 1.03 Ray Rice 23 2.11 Steven Jackson 26 3.01 Fred Jackson

3 1.04 LeSean McCoy 22 2.09 Cam Newton 27 3.02 A.J. Green

4 1.05 Aaron Rodgers 21 2.07 Jimmy Graham 28 3.03 Brandon Marshall

5 1.05 Ryan Mathews 20 2.07 Andre Johnson 29 3.05 Michael Turner

6 1.06 Chris Johnson 19 2.07 Jamaal Charles 30 3.05 Wes Welker

7 1.06 Calvin Johnson 18 2.06 Rob Gronkowski 31 3.07 Roddy White

8 1.08 Tom Brady 17 2.05 Matt Forte 32 3.07 Darren Sproles

9 1.09 Maurice Jones-Drew 16 2.03 Larry Fitzgerald 33 3.08 Julio Jones

10 1.10 Darren McFadden 15 2.03 Adrian Peterson 34 3.08 Ahmad Bradshaw

11 1.12 DeMarco Murray 14 2.03 Drew Brees 35 3.10 Victor Cruz

12 2.01 Trent Richardson 13 2.02 Marshawn Lynch 36 3.12 Mike Wallace

In my mind Foster, Rice, Mccoy are really close in value so I think 3rd is the best spot because then you get to pick your 2nd round 2 spots a head of 1st adn 2nd.

(another interesting thing is the last 2 years I have drafted out of the 4 spot and I have won the league, Probably had nothing to do with it but still interesting)

#1 overall would be the best if you had a choice. I think the 1st 5 or so guys will stay in the highest spot available.

I think a better question is at what point do you move down for one of the later picks rather than staying at your spot?

Not sure in redraft if you can move down or trade out of your spot. If I can't get one of the top 3 spots, I prefer the 12th because of the first set of bookend picks. I've participated in almost 10 IDP redraft mocks with the PFF guys and my best teams seem to come from drafting at the 12th spot.

11th or 12th or top 4. Get Foster, McCoy, Calvin, or Rice. If you don't land a top 4 pick get a turn pick and take a Richardson, Johnson, or McFadden and a Fitz type receiver.

It looks like number 1 pick is gaining ground.

Bigsteel just so you know. This wasn't a draft, it was just rankings placed in order.

I would say #2. If I had the chance to get Shady or Foster I would be thrilled and could go WR the next 3 rounds

I would want first pick.

In a standard league you should be able to get 2 feature backs and a shot at Gronk, Jimmy, Stafford, or Welker.

In RB/flex leagues you could get 3 feature backs to start

I think Foster is clearly superior to both McCoy and Rice. You also have the luxury of starting runs at the turn and controlling how the draft flows.

How about if you do a 3rd round reversal draft (which my league does), where the 3rd round is the same as the 2nd round? Make it very interesting when we select our draft slots.

In this poll, though, I want Arian Foster. Every time.

If I can't get a top four pick, I'll take picks 9 or 10. I find pick 10 allows me to work the turns as I can see which players picks 11 and 12 already have and project which position they are drafting next, meaning I can grab my guy now if I think they're looking at him or wait another round and pick someone else. I detest the middle.
