Draft Strategy (1 Viewer)

Wild Young Billy

A Crazy Cat
I am having trouble getting my arms around a concept, maybe someone smarter than I am can help.

Here's what I am thinking about, mostly for RB and WR drafting strategy.

League Rules

Redraft

12 team

Serpentine

6 pts for Rush and Rec TD

1 pt per Rec.

Rush yards are .1 pts per 10 yards

Receiving Yards are .05 pts per 10 yards (This reduces the value of WR quite a bit.)

Let's see how that affects the top 50 and top 100 point scorers in the league.

In 2010 there were only 12 WR that finished in the top 50 for points scored, compared to 18 RB and 19 QB. But there were 32 WR that finished in the top 100, compared to 30 RB and 25 QB. This held true for both 2009 and 2010. There were no WR in the top 10 (6 RB and 4 QB).

Since there were only 12 WR that finished in the top 50 in each of the past 2 years, how does this affect my strategy for drafting WR, especially in the first 3-4 rounds? Do I forget about WR in Rounds 1-2 and focus on them later do I focus on them in Rounds 1-2 since only 12 finished in the top 50 in scoring.

Any help/guidance is appreciated.

You really should read up on Value Based Drafting (VBD). The basics are that the really important thing is how players score relative to other potential starters at their position. The bigger the point differential, the more value a guy has.

Check out VBD and see if that helps.

:goodposting: In your scoring system, I would suspect that you will see RBs are going to be king, at least for a couple of rounds. Unless you can get a top 5 WR in Round 2, likely RB-RB will be the best strategy. But as Kutta says, put your projections through Dodds' VBD workbook and see what the players's values are.I see 14-15 solid RBs and then it gets dicey. I think with your scoring system and a 1QB starter, you want to get 2 of the top 15 RBs, if you can.
