Drafting a running back in the late second/early third (1 Viewer)

I'm in one mock draft right now where I had the 2nd pick in a 12 team league. I really don't see much difference with the 2 rb's I grabbed at the 4/5 turn than those who were available at 2/3. Here's what I did:

1. ADP

2. Romo

3. Colston

4. McFadden

5. Edge

With my next 2 picks, I plan on going:

6. Chestor Taylor or Jon Stewart

7. Driver, Coles, or Ward.
Who was available?
These were the other backs who were available at 2/3:Maroney, Jacobs, Graham, Brown, Rudi, FWP, T. Jones, Lendale

I see what you mean. McFadden has that tantilizing swing for the fences feel and Edge is probably just as reliable as the rest. But in non-PPR I'm starting to warm-up to Rudi again. I might be tempted to take him at the 2-3 turn to go with AD/LT2 and Colston/ChoJo (I'm now informed that is his moniker).

There seems to be a lot of RB value late this year. Guys like J. Stewart, E. James, F. Taylor, K. Smith and Forte are available as late as the 6th round.

The best mock teams I've put together usually go RB, WR, WR, TE, QB, RB, WR.

I'm not married to that, but it has yielded the best teams to far.

at 1.09 (14 teams)...I just landed this team....

1. Gore

2. Wayne

3. Colston

4. Witten

5. E. Manning (Cutler and Garrard were there too)

6. E. James

7. Galloway

QB Eli isn't a stud, but he is pretty consistent. He'll be good for 23+ tds and 3400 yds and can be had late.

RB Gore and James. Two guys who will get the majority of carries.

WR Wayne and Colston are mega studs who could possibly get 100 catches each. Galloway is a consistent producer with not many other WRs to steal catches, and his ASP is 8.01.

TE Witten is #1 on my list, Gates and Winslow went in rd 3.

pretty solid team overall...would be very happy with this team in my real draft.

I have the #2 pick in the draft and therefore will be picking in the late second and early third. I really want two running backs in my first three picks, but I just don't see one that will be a good value at that spot. I think that is also too high for a guy like Maurice Jones Drew who splits time. Jamal lewis and Ryan Grant would be good picks but they will most likely be gone.At the same time, if you go WR-WR at that point, you will most likely get shut out of a good second running back when you pick again at the end of round 4.
I have the same pick in my draft. I know Ryan Grant will be gone but not so sure about MJD, but other than that I'm with you that I don't like any of the rb's there. If I drafted tomorrow I'd go ADP/then any combination of Fitz, Edwards, Colston, Housh, Ocho, and Holt(thats assuming MJD is gone)/White/Holmes. White as my RB2 might be kinda weak but I'm big on him this year.
