I've search the site. I've been unable to find many posts about this format. Here's some idea I'm tossing around. (draft masters / best ball mean there are no lineups to submit. the top scoring players are used to calculate your weekly score. so if you start 3 wrs, and have 6 on the roster, the top 3 each week are counted)
WR
I just don't think you need to load up on early stud WRs. Lets say you start 3 WRs, if you have 6-7 starting WRs, whoever happens to score a TD probably ranks out in your top 3. Seems like you can overcome lack of stud WRs with quantity.
RB
Seems very hard to use the same approach. You can't just grab 6-7-8 starting RBs. Seems like you need to go heavy RB early, because you won't be able to get a starting RB in the mid rounds unlike WR.
QB
Stud QBs seem like a total waste. You could draft Brooks/Bledsoe/Vick and probably match Peyton/Hasselbeck/Rivers most weeks. You can wait, then just draft an extra QB in the mid rounds. Like WR, seems like you can get quantity over quality.
TE
I'm torn on this one. A stud TE will give you rock solid proection most weeks. If you grab TE 10/11/12 I'm not sure you can match a Gates/LJ Smith combo. Gates/Gonzo/Shockey would most weeks be a top TE, letting you focus on starting WRs/QBs in the mid rounds.
Overall, you want at least one extra guy each week competing for the top score. That seems much easier to do with WR/QB then RB. Once you get into RBBC RBs, you're burning picks left and right. Being able to get RBs with little or no handcuff seems like it would be a huge roster spot edge in this format. I just don't see how you can be handcuffing 2-3-4-5 roster spots in this format. It's dead weight.
Anyway that's all I have after a day of research. If anyone else has any links/tips/thoughts on draft masters / best ball format please post them.
EDIT: How would you edit DD to reflect this? Seems that the standard DD Joe's formula won't work. I'm not even sure what kind of formulate you'd use to incorporate the best ball system.
