Drew Brees = Rex Grossman (1 Viewer)

i dont know if it is BREES -- the play calling - or a combination

but its starting to look ugly ..

I have to say, as a Saints fan I am no longer confident in Brees ability to lead to team or, at this point, even complete a simple pass.

It looks more and more like the Saints are going to end up a 3-13, 4-12 type team. Everybody blames the defense, but the fault lies entirely on Brees and the offense.

Colston had 4 rec. for 67 yds in the first half.

That is also what he finished with.

Every time Brees try to throw the ball more than 5 yds downfield, it was picked off.

There offense went from "creative and exciting" to "gimmicky & crappy" since the end of last year.

This doesn't even look fixable. Monday Night, at home, this set-up perfect for them to turn the bad start around. It looks worse than it did last week. Do they have injuries on the O-Line? Bree's had people in face all night. and when he didn't, he looked like crap when he had time. It's only week 3, but I am writing these guys off.

Sorry, but I've seen this all before. I know where it's going.

I agree. do you think he some how re-injured his shoulder?

It's SOOO amazing to see. I owned Colston and Brees last year, and they played a big role in me going 14-2 and winning the league. I don't own either now, but can't help but pull for them... cuz this is just sad now.

Unreal. Brees always been an accurate, low INT guy. Something is wrong with him physically, and Im sure his confidence is totally shot by now.

Not good.

They have no rhythm. And it all starts up front. Brees is getting hurried almost every play. Add to that at this point a putrid running game and this is the result.

I own Brees and Colston in many leagues...so this is painful to watch. I hope over the bye they get back to basics.

But I already have my doubts with Brees this year. They look so bad. That OL needs to get it together and Sean Payton needs to stop being cute in his play calling. And it is so very clear Reggie Bush is not a 20 carry per game RB. Deuce needs to get healthy over the bye and they need to establish him with 18-24 carries a game and get the pressure off the passing game to get it back.

Colston is a freak and a great talent. But with no time to finish his patterns down field it will not matter.

To be continued.......

I was gonna post a thread with the exact same title!

Eerie! ;)

That entire NO team looks horrid. Kinda like CHI...but atleast CHI's defense is formidable.

I'm soooooo glad I traded up and took Brees in the 2nd round of my 16 team dynasty. Looks like I'll be rebuilding for a couple of years.

Can any NO homers explain the down fall??? Brees looked amazing during preseason... What the heck happend?
Are you at all familiar with the history of the Saints? This is not exactly your normal sports franchise. We can expect success in small spurts, but at the end of the day, the entire franchise is cursed and everyone knows it. It doesn't really matter how much talent or how much coaching they have. They're the Saints, and they're losers, and that's all they'll ever be.This is something I realized by the time I was 10 or 12 years old and I've made my peace with it.

It was just a matter of time - I'm sure it crossed everybody's mind. :goodposting:

at least you get to watch INT returns every week right? They can be quite exciting.

You mean it wasn't Aaron Brooks' fault? I don't remember AB looking this bad... At least AB was a consistant top fantasy QB...

Don't get crazy, now. I defended AB for a long time, but he just killed the franchise with his inconsistency. He didn't exactly improve in his year with Oakland. But Brees has been an efficient, accurate quarterback for his entire career outside of these three games. It's completely bizarre.

I always laughed at all the people who blamed everything on Brooks. I know people need a scapegoat, but you think they'd learn after this many years......there is absolutely nothing this organization can ever do to make the team viable and successful long-term. It's just not going to happen.

are you trying reverse-psychology? If you are, its not gonna work now since i pointed it out.

Every defense has a blueprint on how to stop the Saints....Drop back and sit in a cover 2 and take away the deep ball. Either they made some adjustments or they'll be competing for the worst record in the league

At least they have a history of excellent talent falling to them when they have a high pick.Dream sequence

With the first pick, Oakland selects DE

NO selects McFadDEn

Anyway, I think the Saints will figure it out. Within 4 weeks.

mcfadden, bush, and deuce? There is only 1 ball used at a time so i don't know how this will work.

I can't remember a player going from stud to goat in such a short period of time. You almost have to think it's a health issue.

There is something drastically wrong here. How can a team go from slinging balls down the field 20-30 yards at a time to all of a sudden having a QB, basically backpedaling on every throw? I mean, I saw him back up 10-12 yards, then complete a pass -at the line of scrimmage. He's not stepping into his throws, and they are not running the deep patterns like last year. Same talent. Mind boggling.

Somehow I'm starting to think it's all part of an elaborate ploy to motivate Tater Bell. But seriously, I don't get it either. My guess is that it's a combination of a few factors:- The Saints played above their heads in 2006. - Opponents have had an entire offseason to gameplan for the Saints. All of the stuff that worked last year isn't working because teams are prepared for it. - The Saints have a terrible defense. - Something is up with Brees. Maybe it's an injury. Maybe it's a confidence issue. But for some reason he's not the player he was in 2006 and 2005.

It's pretty sad as a Bears fan that I have to take delight in the Saints' misery just to find something enjoyable about this football weekend. That doesn't mean I won't enjoy their struggles, though. :excited:
