Dropping Peyton hillis? (1 Viewer)

Seems like a waste of space on roster now. Would you rather keep him on or take a chance on a William Powell type guy?

I dropped him for Powell

Not losing any sleep over it and he is still out there with no one picking him up

Seems like his value is dropping by the day

Even if he returns next week, I feel like your untroubled if your actually starting him

Its a very long season. He may not seem to fit in now but things change. KC's playoff schedule is tasty. Be careful.

Seems awfully early to drop Hillis - what if he is back next week?
I feel like there's just too much working against him.
[*]He's looked slow

[*]JC has looked fast

[*]Draughn has looked good

The league I dropped him in, we have small-ish benches. I'm also not going to lose any sleep over it either. He's a handcuff in the sense that it will truly take an injury for him to be relevant.

He's not even necessarily a true handcuff because of the bolded. Honestly, if Charles tweaked his knee in week 4, I could see Draughn getting more touches than Hillis based on how each has looked.

Lots of 3rd string RBs have tasty matchups. That doesn't mean I should have them on my roster.Hillis has had 21 rushing attempts this season -- less than no-name backups like Jonathan Dwyer and Curtis Brinkley. Do you see multiple threads dedicated to Dwyer and Brinkley??There are half a dozen RBs that I'd rather have on my roster than Hillis.

Had to let him go but was able to finagle LeShoure after week1 the owner dropped him, then was able to snare Ryan Williams after a couple bad weeks. Short rosters and they are fixed, can only carry 5 RBs max.

Last season i dropped both M.Bush and W.McGahee...we all know what they ended up doing last year...sometimes it pays to have some patience

Depends on how large your bench is. In leagues with very small benches or 8 to 10 team leagues where there is a lot more on the waiver wire, I'd drop him. In your traditional 12 team league or larger, I'd keep him awhile longer. It's still early and he could easily be the guy down the stretch if something happens to Charles.

Was high on him in every league, he was the only player I had on all 7 of my teams.

He is now only on 1 of them.

He was either traded after week 2 or I cut him after last week.

Dude is a scrub.

Logical fallacy.edit: Bush was the #32 RB through week 7 last year, while McGahee was #16. So you're pretty much an idiot if you dropped either one of those guys.

Interesting thread. I dropped him for Draughn in a deep bench league. Guys at the end of the bench that I kept over him include jared cook, royston, powell, a.jeffrey.

What struck me is that they run the same types of plays for Draughn as they do for JC. Seems to me that if JC misses time, Draughn will be a better start than Hillis.

The "Rudy" of Walmart. great story, see if he can put up a full season.

I'm still holding onto him in the league I own him in. Once he gets healthy I still believe that he will get a decent amount of touches. If he gets 5-10 touches plus GL work I think he's definitely worth owning as a RB4/5.

This has all the makings of a classic overreaction. The guy has gotten injured 2 out of 3 weeks. If you want to drop him because you think he's injury prone, that might have a little merit (not much, but a little) but in his only healthy week he went for over 5 ypc. Dropping him for the Arizona Powell is pretty questionable. I mean, there's probably a 1 out of 100 chance that's a good move, but it's not the smart play. Akin to hitting on 18 when the dealer is showing a 6. Sometimes you get a 3 but everyone at the table knows...

There are a dozen RBs that fit this description, yet none of them are getting the love that Hillis is getting. Do you think Jackie Battle and Tashard Choice are worthy of being rostered right now?

I think people are burying Hillis too early.

It's certainly JC's show right now, but if he goes down or wears down, there will be another needed option and it may still be Hillis.

While the desired 500+ carries by the team for the season may be a pipe dream, this is a team that's going to run and run - espeially with Cassel struggling.

As a Charles owner who also picked up Draughn, I am going to try to get Hillis as well (we have large rosters). This is a backfield I want to have.

How could you possibly drop the #7 RB on your board? :hophead:

You could say the exact same thing about literally hundreds of other backup RBs. Very few of them deserve to be on fantasy football rosters.

True, but this guy has proven himself in the past with the current OC (Daboll).I agree that Hillis is looking more like the 2011 version than the 2010 one, but like I said, I think it's too soon to bury him in the fantasy community.

Update from Adam Caplan with Rotoworld's opinion...

Peyton Hillis (ankle) remained out of Chiefs practice Wednesday.

Hillis was listed as doubtful before sitting out Sunday's loss, and there's been nothing to suggest he'll be ready to return for Week 5. We expect Shaun Draughn to back-up Jamaal Charles against the Ravens. Increasingly plodding and prone to injury, Hillis is an extremely low-upside own in fantasy leagues.

Does anybody have any insight to what and how severe the injury is? I'm a Charles owner and drafted Hillis to a) back-up Charles in case his knee wasn't fully recovered (doesn't look like I need him for that now) and b) his TD vulturing potential at the end of the season when the schedule gets easier.

Do you think Hillis will ever be the TD vulture this season or is he a lost cause at this point?

I think if anyone can be helpful in that backfield besides Charles at any point during this season, it's Draughn not Hillis.

There are teams out there he could start for.
In the NFL?
:lmao:
I have seen him dropped in a few leagues and likely to see a few more in the coming weeks if he doesn't return soon. There is no doubt, it doesn't look good for Hillis right now. It looks a bit like last year.But...it's a long season. Things change. KC's run schedule is beautiful in the second half.

Last year he was injured all year and came back at the end as a serviceable flex against a brutal schedule. He ran for 100+ in each of weeks 15 and 16 playing for the Browns.

I'm hesitant to drop him even though I could use the space to pick up someone line Jerome Simpson, Vincent Brown, or one of new RB's making some noise lately. Even moreso, I could use the space to pick up a bye week fill-in for a few of my IDP spots. I just hate the thought of him blowing up in the second half of the season on someone else's roster.
