Droughns could be traded..... (1 Viewer)

Roy Cummings of the Tampa Tribune lists Reuben Droughns among the rumored running backs the Bucs may be targeting prior to the NFL trading deadline.

Droughns was expected to receive a chunk of the carries when Brandon Jacobs was injured, but Derrick Ward took over and has been very effective. With Jacobs back, Droughns will see few if any carries most weeks. Though Droughns is unlikely to become a full-time starter, he could have some value if traded.

wasn't Droughns going to be the Giants fullback? that's what they're paying him for ... right? and they don't have any real replacement, right ... ?
Nope... Droughns was forced into the role after an injury to the FB... then shortly after NYG signedMadison Hedgecock-RB- Giants Sep. 12 - 5:44 pm et Giants claimed FB Madison Hedgecock off waivers from the Rams and released FB Robert Douglas.Hedgecock is a true lead blocker, which New York had been lacking. He'll likely take some time to get used to the Giants' offense, but Hedgecock's addition should free up Reuben Droughns to see more action at tailback with Brandon Jacobs (MCL) injured. It's not great news for Derrick Ward. My guess is if Hedgecock is up too speed... You have BJ / Ward / Bradshaw... might as well try to get something for Droughns
