DST roulette or stick with the top DSTs? (1 Viewer)

The phrase "never sit your studs" seems to only apply for skill position players for FF.

Where do we draw the line here? PIT DST for example has been top 5 pretty much all season. We saw them get shredded by NE this past week, but their following schedule is as follows:

w11: OAK

w12: @BUF

w13: @BAL

w14: CIN

w15: NYJ

w16: CAR

I see favorable matchups @ BUF, vs CIN, and vs CAR, but what about w11, w13, and w15? (I'm not asking for advice, I'm simply using an above average DST as an example here).

I guess the rule of thumb is DSTs playing 1) at home and 2) against a bad QB.

How can one determine whether to play roulette with teams like; CLE, OAK, DET, IND, or NE who can possibly be on waivers with some better matchups? Why do you never sit your stud skill players but sometimes sit your DST in playoffs for favorable matchups?

For PIT, the only matchup that would give me pause is wk 13 @ BAL. The rest are good-to-great matchups, IMO.

PIT defense is going to win a lot of fantasy championships this year.

Good thread.

I thought NYJ DEF would be the lock of the century after they bought a defense and with sexy rexy at the helm ... but they have been middle of the pack in FPTS in the two leagues i drafted them.

May have to start picking up a waiver wire alternative.

FWIW, I'm starting the Bears def pretty much regardless of matchup. They have scored double digits almost every week this year.

Probably doing the same, though I picked up the niners and may do a platoon from here on out. From here on...Bears Vs DolphinsNiners Vs CardsBears Vs LionsNiners Vs SeattleBears Vs VikingsBears Vs NYJI like the bears but I'm always scared of a Cutler Turnoverpalooza. Giving the other team the ball in their own redzone 5 times does not help your defense.
