1. Marshawn Lynch (18-64, 1-21) looks good early. He kept his feet moving and got yards after contact against a stingy Steelers run defense. What was odd was that, despite all the pressure Losman was receiving, Lynch only got one target in the passing game.
2. Apparently Lee Evans (2-17, 6 targets) is cracking under pressure. He got two unsportsmanlike calls on two consecutive plays in the 4th quarter, which seems out of character for him. The last one saw him getting in the ref's face for a non-call. Let's see if he can right the ship this week. His average yards per target was 11.5, which seems okay, but he only had two targets that were longer than ten yards, and both of those came late in the game after the contest had been decided.
3. J.P Losman (15-25, 154 yards, 4-38) had no time to pass the ball. Some people have been talking up Jason Peters as the next great left tackle, but I don't see it. He was abused by LB James Harrison twice in the 1st quarter, and after that the Bills brought some help over in the form of TE Michael Gaines (just signed last week). He looked like a turnstile. This helps explain why Evans can't get the ball deep early in games.
4. Roscoe Parrish (6-56, 8 targets) saw the ball more than Evans as a result of the pressure on Losman. Parrish is a short, quick guy that operates well in space, has he amassed 26 yards after the catch. He does run short routes, however, (AYPT was 6.8) as three of his targets were behind the line of scrimmage. Still, he's a good desperation play as long as Reed is still out.
5. Santonio Holmes (3-53, 6 targets, 18.7 AYPT) and Nate Washington (3-60, 4 targets, 16.0 AYPT) will have better days when the Steelers face better offenses. The Steelers shut it down in the 2nd half when they have a lead (last year, they were LAST in percentage of passing plays with a lead in the 2nd half). I look for Washington to be a decent WR3 play against teams like the Bengals and the Broncos.
AYPT = Average Yards per Target - this number shows the amount of distance the ball traveled in the air past the line of scrimmage to the receiver (whether the pass was completed or not).
