Dumbest or most embarrassing way you have hurt yourself (1 Viewer)

I was making soup this weekend - chicken and barley with a bunch of vegetables - it's quite good actually.  Anyway, I brought the initial ingredients to a boil (everything but the veggies) and needed to stir the pot so I grabbed a ladle and began stirring.  I was going to serve the soup after it was made so the ladle seemed like as good a choice as anything at the time.  Anyway, I'm holding the pot with my right hand and begin stirring vigorously with the left and that's when it happened - a drop of the boiling soup hit my left wrist.  That #### was really hot and the natural reaction when you get burned is to pull away from the thing that burned you.  Unfortunately, when I pulled back from the one drop on my left wrist, the orientation of the ladle scooped a molten flood of boiling soup onto my shirt, pants and right arm!  In addition, the soup was all over the floor, stove and counter top.  I felt a million things at the same time.... PAIN!  Boiling soup if really ####### hot!  Stunned and amazed that something so stupid just happened.  I just couldn't believe that I had a huge red mark on my arm from my bicep across the inside of the elbow and down onto my forearm - and did I mention the pain?  And now also had huge mess on my hands too... clothes, counter, stove and floor all needed to be cleaned.  I left the mess, and attended to my arm - ran it under cold water for 10 minutes and wrapped it with some gauze and neosporin.  Then went back and cleaned up the mess.  This all happened last night and my arm is still red, but the pain is mostly gone now.   :bag:

What are some of the dumb/ embarrassing ways you have hurt yourself?

Was prepping rope for a canoe trip when I was about 15. Was using nylon string to bind the ends of the rope so it wouldn't fray, but I also needed to keep the ends of the nylon string from fraying. Was melting the ends with a lighter and a drop of liquid nylon dripped onto my middle finger. Felt like it burned all the way to the bone. Worst burn I've ever had and still have a gnarly scar from it 30 years later.

Not major but about every other golf season I clip the inside of my ankle with an iron of some sort.  Usually I'm just screwing around and it hurts like a mofo.  At some point I'll learn.

Waaay back in 1985, was getting ready with a bunch of friends to go to Weird Science in the theater. Was taking out garbage and was running to the garage to dump it. Our walk way was ~1x2 pieces of slate set in the grass (mostly in he grass, I happened to catch the mower blade on them every once in a while!) I was taking the corner to get to the garage and slipped. I caught my knee on one of the corners, to the huge laughter of the guys on our porch! Didn't hurt much, so I cleaned up the mess I made and continued to the garage to dump the stuff. When I got there, I looked down, and saw a bit of blood dripping down my leg, and could also see a bit of white (I assume knee bone!) I then limped back to the front and said "Hey guys, it's not funny!!" The wound was 3/4 to 1" in diameter, not very deep, but you can't go very deep!!

Two items that made it worse than normal. One, our mom worked full time, so we were lucky that one of our neighbors was the wife of a Big-6 partner, so she was home (also 6 kids is a full time job!!!) and was a nurse in her previous life. And second, the reason why I slipped on my turn was we had been visited earlier in the day by a lawn care company, and the slates were slick because of the spray that they had put down. Chemicals inside the knee!! Had it flushed, half dozen stitches or so, and still have the scar a little bit.
