Dumbest pick ever (1 Viewer)

I stopped at a trophy store looking for a trophy for our league. The owner is in a league that has two guys sharing a team. One of the guys couldn't stay for the whole draft. He told his partner to draft who he wanted for the rest of the draft, but to draft the St Louis kicker. So he did, he drafted the St Louis punter. The guy told me the room absloutely went silent. And after they had written in the name and put it on the board everyone busted out laughing. The guy didn't know what was so funny. I think that is proof that your partner is an idiot.

hmmmm....could this be another "look at the nimrods I play with" thread that turns on the OP? I think it may be. It never gets old. Happy Saturday night, all :banned:

Actually, "no". For the OP clearly stated that this was not his league, but rather the league of the owner of the store were he was shopping for a trophy.I find it an amusing story that he wished to pass on. Also, how much draft prep is necessary to avoid a punter?

Does your league give bonus points for extra long punts or touchbacks? If so this could turn out to be a sweet pick. :banned:

Great eye. . I actually just copied the quote from another thread, and yet............."I think that is proof that your partner is an idiot"

.......qualifies the OP in a roundabout sort of way, wouldn't you say?

Agree it was amusing on its own and it is likely the guy/gal did no prep. It was the pejorative dumb and idiot comments that set me off.

I have one that can top that.....We have a great group and to allow a member to remain active although having to travel for buisness during "Draft" time we allowed his wife(I know but the guy's a fantastic guy) to draft for him off a list that he made up. This was many years back and he was one of the few amongst our league who had that new fandangled thing they called "internet" so on her first pick for him we thought it was a huge stretch but maybe that "internet" had some insight we weren't aware of! Then came the next pick and it was way down on the list of prospective players. By the third pick she made we couldn't hold back despite our respect for our friend......it was totally out of control. This went on as one of the most bizzare group of selections you can imagine.......and two days later our buddy returned to find out his wife drafted his entire team from the second page of his two page list(I'm sure she thought she was dominating us). He only kept 2 players from that group of 18 drafted that night (and we paid $2.00 for waiver moves way back then) but at least he has never gone on buisness trips during the Labor Day weekend again. Sorry for the "long text" but you had to be there.....it was as though the worst nightmare of all came true......your Wife having to be around the craziness of a normally Male only draft night........and she freakin' drafts you a bunch of back-ups. In those days there wasn't any of the "hand-cuff" mentality.....especially an entire team of "cuffs"! :lmao: :hot: :lmao:

Thank you Man, you are completely correct. Just sharing a story I heard. I've heard of retired players gettting picked but never a punter being drafted before.

You would prefer, intellecturally challenged perhaps? I think underprepared is drafting a player that is lost for the year to an injury, or a player like Jimmy Smith, who retired after many of the magazines were printed, but this is stupid, sorry. I just call them as I see them.
