Dustin Keller (1 Viewer)

Is his last two weeks a mirage, or is he becoming the favorite target of Mark Sanchez? Will Santonio Holmes steal receptions?

Where would you put him in the current TE rankings?

LDT is averaging 5.6 a carry. I think they are running the ball just fine. No individual player is running a lot because they are splitting the 25-30 or so run plays. I think going forward as the weather gets bad, they will run more.

As soon as Holmes comes back and the running game gets back on track, Keller will fall out of the top 10 for fantasy TEs.
The Jets have the 9th best rushing offense in the NFL. :blackdot:

interesting didnt look that good the 2 weeks i watched them, obviously the ravens D is stout and Miami seemed to hold them down well

New York said before the season that Keller was going to be a focal point of the offense. Then the season rolls around and everyone's shocked that Keller is the focal point of the offense? Keller has led the team in targets for three straight weeks now. He's not just keeping the seat warm until Santonio comes back, he's actually the go-to guy in New York. Now, that makes him the go-to guy in a poor passing attack with a lot of mouths to feed, but it still makes him the go-to guy. I don't think he'll be cracking the top 5 this year, but I definitely expect top-10 production the rest of the way.

He's on pace for 1,200 yards and while he won't continue to average a TD each game, his schedule is favorable going forward.

Agree with this...also MIA is putrid vs. the TE and he exploited it. Watch for Hernandez to have a huge game this week.I do think he could finish top 10.

If you count last year's playoff games, he has had TDs in 5 of the last 6 NYJ games. He's definitely the goto option when Sanchez throws in the redzone.

I disagree. There's clearly a very strong connection between Keller and Edwards. If anything, the presence of Holmes should make sure that Keller won't be double covered like he was in the 2nd half of the MIA game.

They ran for 116 against Baltimore and 146 against Miami.

If Sanchez continues to play the way has the last two games, Keller will be money. The only real tough defenses he will face are GB and Pitt/Chi during playoff weeks.

I think Keller is right below the first tier of Gates, Clark, and Finley. He seems more valuable right now then Vernon Davis and Tony Gonzalez.

Keller finished 1 target shy of leading the Jets in targets for the fourth straight week.

Does Keller continue to beast when Holmes comes back?
There will be a lot of mouths to feed, that's for sure. As long as they buy in to the team and are winning, I don't see it as a problem. But the Jets will trot out there: Holmes, Edwards, Cotchery, and Keller as viable targets.

I don't know that I would put him quite that high until I see what life is like after Holmes comes back. Still should be productive but I think I would rather have a couple more than him.

Today seemed like a typical Sanchez stat line. Run the ball and manage the game. He didn't throw deep all that much.

5 TDs in 4 games is hard to ignore.

It seems like he can do both, when asked and given the right plays. He is 5th in QB rating and second in TD passes with 8. More importantly he has yet to throw an INT, which will come eventually, obviously.

Was last night just a stinker or will Holmes limit Keller's value?
I'm not sure, he did get a target in the endzone and was going up against a good defense againt TEs. I also think I am trying to justify his numbers as an owner but it does seem that Sanchez was looking towards his WRs more last night than earlier in the season.

Passes to Keller jsut seemed a bit off last night. Thats ok.

Cotchery seemed to eat into his production.

Might be too many mouths to feed now, not enough passing to go around for them all

He'll be very up and down in that offense depending on whats working. Five games so far, two with 100 yards and three with less than 30 yards.

Sanchez definitely didn't look Keller's way much last night, even though Keller appeared pretty open at times. Not sure if it's a harbinger of things to come with Holmes back, or just game planning to try to exploit the secondary. As mentioned, the Vikes play TEs pretty tough.

One thing to note is that the offensive scheme last night centered much more on vertical downfield passing than what team brass asks Sanchez to do. And given that so many drives stalled - resulting in all those FGs - I would expect that Keller will get more looks going forward.

Net/net - I think Keller's looks will go down a bit with Holmes' arrival, but not that much. Dustin is too important in a ball control offense to keep drives moving.

Agree with the "up and down" assessment, but that just makes him like every other WR/TE. Also, you should note that even when his yardage numbers were down, he managed a few TD's. Sanchez was not very sharp last night (perhaps weather) and with Holmes back, the pie will have to be cut to feed a few more mouths. What I did like however, was that he wasn't forgotten in the redzone.

I agree that Sanchez didn't have a good game but neither did Keller. He dropped 2 or 3 passes that should have been caught. They weren't perfect passes but anything that hits your hands, for the most part, should be caught.

He had a sure TD pass but it went off his hands. Weather was terrible. Not making any excuses for him. To be an elite TE you need to make catches even in the rain. The good news is he got redzone looks last night even when Holmes was back.

I think Keller loses about 3 targets per game with the return of Holmes, but remains just as good as a red zone target. Holmes was going over the middle alot last night, and that is usually Keller territory. It could get worse as Holmes gets more games under his belt and Sanchez works with him more.

He got targeted 5 times, and one was in the redzone. Holmes may effect his value, but not drastically
I don't get how you can say that. In week 1-3, Keller led the Jets in targets every week. In week 4, Keller finished 1 target shy of leading the team for a fourth consecutive week. In week 5, Keller had 5 targets... while Edwards had 11 and Holmes had 9. Keller saw his role DRASTICALLY reduced this week. Whether it's a one-week fluke or harbinger of things to come remains to be seen (I think it's somewhere in-between), but it's not like things are all bright and rosy in Dustin Keller-land.

Keller had one target in the end zone this week... but he was far from the first option down there. Here's the series where he got his red zone target:1-4-MIN4 (:34) M.Sanchez pass incomplete short right to B.Edwards.2-4-MIN4 (:29) M.Sanchez pass incomplete short right to J.Cotchery.3-4-MIN4 (:24) (Shotgun) M.Sanchez pass incomplete short right to D.Keller.Keller didn't get his look until Sanchez had already gone for Edwards and Cotchery first. Again, it's not like this is Armageddon, here (no TE ever puts up huge numbers every week), but there's little positive takeaway from the game last night for Keller owners.

Which why I said we shall see. I'm not as high on Keller now that Holmes is in town.

I am a Keller owner, who has only started him on Aaron Hernandez' bye (and he gave me 2 points).

I get the Jets games in my area, and I think Mark Sanchez is just not a good qb. At all. I think Keller will be ridiculously inconsistent the rest of the year. And if I were a redraft Keller owner, I would be looking to deal him.
