Playing him, really got no choice

This seems like Classic Overreaction to me. Philly never adjusted to the short passing game one iota; I was rather amazed as they continued to let themselves be nickel and dimed to death. How many other defenses will do this throughout the year? Any? Also, whose not to say that Reid won't start adjusting the play-calling to get Bowe involved with Alex's strengths (or lack thereof)?Ray said:After watching the KC game last week, I cut Bowe (PPR league).
Alex Smith will NOT throw to a receiver unless they are basically wide open. As a result / in addition, he will not throw the ball downfield. Bowe was his first read many times, but almost all of Bowe's routes were deeper routes. Smith would come off him _very_ quickly; not allowing the route to develop. Bowe never had a chance to create separation or find a seam.
Me too. I only have him in one league and Lance Moore was sort of my WR4, but I had to dump him and Nelson is out this week so I have no real choice. Bowe should have a good week this week and maybe Avery playing well will open it up a bit more for him. If he doesn't, he will be hard pressed to get back in the lineup until Wayne has his bye as well.KellysHeroes said:Playing him, really got no choice
I agree with you in principal - but you can't get around the fact that he has had 4 tds in the last year (3 all of last season and one this year) and he has not broken 100 yard in 12 games. So, while I think he can be a serviceable wr - he cetainly won't aspire to top 25 level and maybe not even top 40. Right now he is somewhere closer to 75 but I realize that one HORRIBLE week (last week) plays a major role in that.Bowe has been a huge disappointment thus far, but this overreaction to last week has to stop. He did after all get 14 targets the first two games, and I suspect that is likely to be the norm way more than games like last week will. He likely won't put up the numbers many of us hoped far, unless he puts up a monster game or two that inflates his overall numbers, but he can still be a solid play for the duration.
How does one not overreact to a "huge disappointment"? Your words not mine. At the very least, Bowe owners are fidgeting if they want to trust him again in their lineups. I agree that dropping him outright is the extreme end of the spectrum, but not as drastic as it would once seem not so long ago. If you have a strong enough WR crew or short benches, it's not so crazy to dump him.Bowe has been a huge disappointment thus far, but this overreaction to last week has to stop.
A Johnson sounds healthier now, so I might plug him in and sit either Bowe or HillMe too. I agree--but the thing that scares me the most is that I could see Bowe literally double screwing people. The people who drafted him basically think he's almost droppable--and I imagine a lot of people will drop him--and the moment that happens--I guarantee you that he'll show you signs of life. That's why he's such a cluster. I got him as a throw in on a deal that I just made--and I don't even know how and when to use him. Some Reason I Drafted This POS Over A. Brown And Jordy. Was I Drinking? BelievEd the Preseason "hype"
This.Does Bowe draw Amukamara tomorrow? WR1s have done jack versus NYG this year..
Dez - 4/22/0
D.Thomas - 5/52/0
S.Smith - 3/40/0
He hasn't been playing like the teams top WR but sadly I'm betting he'll still be treated as such.
How much money he makes is irrelevant. Coaches don't take that into consideration while drawing up a game plan. They also don't take it into consideration during a game. They are not sitting on the sidelines thinking "we better get Bowe involved - we aren't getting our money's worth."I still think there is a lot of over reaction to last weeks game. I don't think Bowe will be as good as some people projected him to be but he is not droppable unless you have a very short bench. The gameplan last week was clearly to take advantage of The soft middle of Philadelphia's defense(see hankerson and Royal in week 1 and 2 games) . Bowe was matched up against Cary Williams who is the only player in the Eagles secondary who is anything close to talented. So Andy, knowing how other teams had success against the Eagles and knowing what lousy talent he drafted knew he could exploit this weakness with someone like Avery. Bowes very happy reaction after the game is a good sign. He was happy with the win and knew the gameplan worked. The Chiefs didn't pay all that money for a decoy so I expect Bowe to be more involved most weeks. Bottom line is I don't think his poor numbers has anything to do with how he is playing. It may have more to do with gameplan and Alex Smith's hesitation to throw into tight coverage outside of the hash marks. I think though this will change as they become more familiar with each other's game. He is a WR 3 with upside. Nothing more unless we see this for a few more weeks.
Moneysince he'll be on many a fantasy bench today, he'll have a nice game
He will have more TDs, probably at least 6 or 7 for the year, but his upside is nominal. 5/50/1 would be a pleasantly surprising week for Bowe. As such, I'm benching him to go with guys like Gordon and Shorts who are more likely to drop big games. Bowe may be in my line-up as a WR3 during the others' bye weeks, that's it.Didn't Bowe score a TD 14 days ago? A lot of hate for one crappy game. In that game with a TD he had 8 targets!
its a new week and new opponent unlike us he keeps emotion out of it?Why does Bloom have him ranked #17? I thought he was down on him bigtime after last week?
it's already funny. It's going to be so funny to read this thread about 3:30 today.

It'll be funny
According to SI's Greg Bedard, Dwayne Bowe has been a "big problem" for the Chiefs because he's no longer able to beat man coverage.
Bedard is plugged-in around the NFL and does his own film reviews. "Not sure what has happened to him," writes Bedard, "but he lacks explosion and can’t beat man coverage anymore. Defenses don’t fear him at all." We personally haven't noticed anything different about Bowe this season, other than the fact that Alex Smith isn't even trying to get the ball outside the hashmarks. Still, it's a noteworthy take from a pretty trusted observer.
