[Dynasty] 2018 Draft Class (1 Viewer)

I will just never understand how a QB can spend multiple years at a FBS school and have trouble with accuracy.

Diagnosing defenses, arm strength, long ball, touch, sensing pressure? Sure. But you should be able to place the ball where you intend to.

What if you're not a natural passer? Asking for a friend.

An NFL scout told Newsday's Calvin Watkins that Washington State QB Luke Falk "fits with the Jets West Coast offense."

Falk was as prolific statistically as any quarterback this side of Baker Mayfield during his career at Washington State. The 6-foot-3, 211-pounder operated out of the shotgun in HC Mike Leach's Air Raid and would have a learning process ahead of him to transition to the West Coast schematic. Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline believes that with a strong week at the Senior Bowl (currently ongoing), Falk could exit Mobile with evaluators viewing him as a Round 2 pick.

Listening to NFL radio Josh Allen was on there and they were asking him why was he throwing so many balls in the dirt!?!?!?!?

Hhhhhmmmmm

-The biggest running back standout today was Arizona State’s Kalen Ballage on the North Side. Ballage ran the ball with patience and exhibited terrific vision breaking a long run to the left without even getting touched until he was well on his way to scoring in the second level. Ballage (6021 222lbs) looked like a Latavius Murray clone at weigh-ins this morning but what was most impressive today was his ability to create separation and catch the football out of the backfield. At one point, Ballage put Citadel LB Myles Piercein a blender after a quick shoulder feint and slant into open space.

Wide Receivers
-Oklahoma State receiver James Washington was the best receiver on the South team on Day 1. He was able to win his reps in 1 on 1 in a variety of ways and displayed exceptional strength at the catch point. Though his height at weight ins was underwhelming (5017), Washington plays bigger than his size and is a player to watch for the rest of the week.

-Colorado State’s Michael Gallup was unguardable today. He displayed tremendous quickness going vertical and was able to separate with relative ease. He continues to display quickness in and out of his breaks and has reliable hands when the ball comes in his area.

-Cedrick Wilson of Boise State product was very impressive during the North team practice. Wilson did a vey good job of using his hands and reducing his pad level to quickly get down the field against press coverage. Wilson ran very crisp routes, utilizing head fakes to make defenders stop their feet, so he could create separation. Down the field Wilson also displayed nice body control by being able to go up and high point the football on the sideline and keeping his feet in bounds.

South Dakota State TE Dallas Goedert will not take part in the remainder of the Senior Bowl week due to a hamstring injury.

Goedert came to Mobile healthy and raring to go, but injured his hamstring during Tuesday's practice. He's been nixed for the rest of the week. It's a disappointing development for the 6-foot-4, 260-pound tight end, who could potentially have finished the week as one of the clear winners after playing out of the spotlight for FCS South Dakota State during his collegiate career. We still expect the athletic, sizable Goedert to land on Day 2 of the draft in the spring. Fingers crossed for a healthy NFL Scouting Combine next month.

UMass TE Adam Breneman (hamstring) has been ruled out for the remainder of the Senior Bowl week.

We were hoping to see a big, productive showing out of Breneman down in Mobile, but that's been dashed by his injury concern. He's a borderline Day 2/Day 3 pick, so any positives in the evaluating process would be helpful toward securing a selection in Round 2 or Round 3. He did receive a measurement at the start of the Senior Bowl week, checking in at 6-foot-4, 241 pounds. Draft Wire's Luke Easterling refers to Breneman as a "high floor" prospect.

Wyoming QB Josh Allen received vastly different reviews from Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline and Walter Football's Charlie Campbell for his Tuesday practice at the Senior Bowl.

Pauline wrote that teams were "crushing" Allen and felt that he did not look close to NFL-readiness, concluding that "Tuesday was definitely not the way Allen wanted his Senior Bowl to start." But nothing is simple in the evaluation of the 6-foot-5, 237-pound gunslinger. Campbell notes that Allen's arm was the best at the event and he showed it repeatedly. Indeed, sometimes to his detriment. Several times on Tuesday Allen overthrew his wideouts or was undone by drops because receivers simply did not seem to have a gauge for the howitzer attached to his shoulder. Campbell's final assessment was almost the exact opposite of Pauline's, with the analyst writing that "[o]verall, this was a strong first practice, and Allen got his week off to a good start." When we say to expect a wide array of evaluations on the quarterback, this is what we're talking about.

How much of a instant continuity advantage would a team get if it could haul in both Nelson and McGlinchey? Would it be worth overpaying to have two talented guys on the OL who already have chemistry with one another?

Western Kentucky TE Deon Yelder has been added to the Senior Bowl roster.

Yelder (6'4/255) took part in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl over the weekend, but no rest for the weary. Following hamstring injuries to fellow tight ends Dallas Goedert and Adam Breneman on Tuesday, the Hilltopper was added to the Senior Bowl fray. This unexpected turn of events represents a golden chance for Yelder to make noise in a premier evaluating setting. He's trying to scrap his way to a late Day 3 selection, so every bit helps.

He just keeps doing it:

“James Washington continues to be one of the best players out on the field from both teams. He’s been uncoverable so far. He shows incredible burst off the line and smoothness out of his breaks. His route running is far superior to anyone else here, and his speed and hands kill DBs on deep routes. This guy should be a first round lock after this week.”

ESPN's Matt Bowen noted that Wyoming QB Josh Allen has consistently showed accuracy issues during team drills at the Senior Bowl.

This is nothing new when it comes to Allen, who can fling it through a building assuming he can actually hit said building. The 6-foot-4, 237-pounder completed just 56.2-percent of his passes at Wyoming. Bowen writes that his "lack of ball placement and touch continues to pop." We expect to hear this refrain and variations on it throughout the process, but Allen remains a likely top-10 selection due to his immense athletic upside.

NFL Network draft guys sounding very impressed with #Miami slot WR/KR Braxton Berrios work at Senior Bowl practice. Canes fans probably not surprised to hear that he’s excelling here.

Posibly I'd over pay for Nelson, dude is nasty. Depends but 8 to 13 is where he most likely goes.     McGlinchey is a right tackle in the NFL.    Will struggle with speed rushers, as he did his past two years.

NFL Network's Charlie Casserly on QB Josh Allen: "This guy has Carson Wentz' talent."

10:14 AM - 24 Jan 2018

====================

Mayock said he is 'similar' to Wentz physically and he also said he is going to pull some Miami of Ohio tape to compare to Big Ben.

From North practice, courtesy @ZebraTechnology - tracking players this week:

  • Fastest Throw = Josh Allen – 66.14 MPH
Longest Throw = Tanner Lee – 54.7 yards

Highest Rotations Per Minute = Luke Falk 721.6 RPM

Most Throws = Luke Falk 112 throws

Forget all the accuracy issues and the knocks against Josh Allen, when he throws the ball it looks effortless.  Almost Brady'esque with how easy it looks to throw a ball.  Now obviously he isn't hitting his spot as often as Brady would but they share that trait in making it look really easy.

NFLDraftScout.com's Dane Brugler writes that Oklahoma State WR James Washington has separated himself from his fellow wideouts during the Senior Bowl practice week.

"We know the strong ball skills and vertical skills, but his progress w/ his releases and routes have been encouraging," Brugler notes. Washington -- who measured in at 5-foot-10, 210 pounds -- has been one of the clear standouts in Mobile, winning out in his drills on multiple occasions and excelling (as is typical) in his work as a deep receiver. He shouldn't be considered a lock first-rounder quite yet, but he'll definitely be in the conversation. His evaluating process is off to a very, very smooth start.

ESPN's Todd McShay writes that Penn State WR DaeSean Hamilton could be one of the first five wide receivers drafted in 2018.

Both McShay and ESPN's Matt Bowen listed Hamilton as their under-the-radar prospect that saw their stock rise because of his Senior Bowl practices. He also stood out at the East-West Shrine Game and had a big Fiesta Bowl, so basically, it's been a good month. "Some guys seem like pros in this setting, and Hamilton definitely passed the eye test," McShay writes. "He was open all week. Based off what I saw, I wouldn't be shocked if he was one of the top five wide receivers picked in April."

ESPN's Matt Bowen believes that Iowa RB Akrum Wadley could see immediate time in an NFL offense.

Wadley doesn't have prototypical size (5'10/188) as Bowen notes, but he does have the speed and ability to catch the ball to play an immediate role in the NFL. "Wadley consistently shook linebackers in coverage down in Mobile," Bowen writes. "That's the quick feet and the short-area speed to run the option route, angle route, burst to the flat or separate on the inside seam." Bowen also showed the ability to create in the screen game, which makes him a perfect candidate to be a third-down back immediately.

ESPN's Todd McShay ranked Richmond QB Kyle Lauletta as the fourth best QB during Senior Bowl practice.

Lauletta ranks only behind Wyoming's Josh Allen, Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield and Washington's Luke Falk. McShay said earlier in the week that he wanted to see how Lauletta handled the "higher competition," and it appears he did it well enough. "Nothing jumps out about Lauletta; he has an average arm, average size (6-2, 217) and a slightly funky release," McShay writes. "But the more you watch him, the more you appreciate his efficiency. He picked up things well from Texans coach Bill O'Brien and gained confidence as the week progressed." McShay also notes that he believes Lauletta currently projects as a signal-caller who will go in the fourth or fifth round.
