[Dynasty] 2019 NFL Draft Class (1 Viewer)

I simply cannot comprehend someone with “draft expert” credentials who has Daniel Jones as high as the 4th best QB or better on the board and Josh Jacobs as the best RB in this class.  And Miller isn’t the only one.  Maybe it’s just me being clueless...

.
Count me as clueless too, because I don't get it either.

First, thanks to @Faust for all of the mock draft hyperlinks and @ZWK for the generic rankings.  Below is the 2019 pre-combine ZWK generic rankings based on averaging mock drafts.  I have remove the maximum and minimum values, excluded when number was < 4, and stopped at a top 40.  Some things I noticed while updating:

1. Joshua Jacobs - went from off the board to late first round.  He may go first round but he is not starting at Alabama!  In terms of VBD, Jacobs = Metcalf + Henderson

2. T.J. Hockenson - went from 2nd best Iowa TE to mid first round.  The ZWK generic ranking says

3. N'Keal Harry - better loved by the fantasy community than draftniks

4. Devin Singletary - trending higher and appearing a lot in the second round

5. Deebo Samuel rose in ranking after Senior Bowl

Rivals.com's Mike Farrell lists Michigan RB Karan Higdon as a potential sleeper at the NFL Scouting Combine in the 2019 NFL Draft class.

Higdon (5'9/203) got mixed results from his work at the Senior Bowl over the week and at the game, but Senior Bowl director Jim Nagy listed the tailback as one of the members of his "all-value" team. "I like Higdon a lot and think he will be an excellent mid-round pickup for someone," writes Farrell. Testing will be massive for Higdon, but it certainly is possible that he works himself into the high Day 3 area with a good week in Indianapolis.

2. FIVE OFFENSIVE SLEEPERS TO WATCH FOR AT THE NFL COMBINE

Here are five offensive sleepers to keep an eye out for at this week's NFL Combine.

1. RB

Karan Higdon

, Michigan – I like Higdon a lot and think he will be an excellent mid-round pickup for someone. He was a high three-star out of high school who had very good feet and I like the way he runs between the tackles in college. Keep an eye out to see how he runs.

2. QB

Jarrett Stidham

, Auburn – Stidham has fallen to that second or third tier of quarterbacks and is projected as a third-rounder at best it seems. Out of high school, he had all the tools except consistency and was a high four-star. That lack of consistency followed him to college and he needs to show he can bounce back from bad throws.

3. WR

Riley Ridley

, Georgia – The younger brother of

Calvin Ridley

was known to us as Cavin Ridley when we first scouted him. He was a four star prospect in our Rivals250 and a very polished receiver. He’s one of the better route runners in the draft and that ability could allow him to shine at the combine.

4. TE

Jace Sternberger

, Texas A&M – Sternberger was a two-star defensive end for us at first and became a three-star tight end out of JUCO. He’s been productive in his one year at A&M but is overshadowed by the two Iowa tight ends and a few others heading into the combine.

5. OL

Yodny Cajuste

, West Virginia – Cajuste was a two-star prospect out of high school who could play offense or defense and now he’s turned into an athletic tackle on the outside of the elite OL groups. He could surprise some people this weekend.

Stanford RB Bryce Love measured in at 5-foot-8 and 7/8 inches and 200 pounds on Wednesday at the NFL Scouting Combine.

We'll be rounding him up to 5-foot-9. Still, these are fairly underwhelming measurements for the 2017 Heisman Trophy runner-up, and won't do anything to answer questions about his durability going forward. It's believed that Love will be limited this week at Indianapolis, so his pro day at Stanford is going to be massive for his draft status.

So Love is an inch taller and ten pounds heavier than Phillip Lindsay?

And three inches taller and 20 pounds heavier than Tarik Cohen?

And about the same size as Gio Bernard?

People aren’t going to like it but Josh Jacobs weighing in at 220 means he has almost the exact same physical structure and production profile of Chris Carson.

Why would anyone not like 220?  His measurements are outstanding to me, truly almost perfect. Heard a report a few weeks ago where someone put together a top 10 athletic profile of the top 10 rushers from last season and I may be off an inch but was either 5'10" or 5'11" and 220.  Also loved the 10 1/8th inch hand size, that's TE mitts.

Henderson at 208, essentially same size as Aaron Jones
That's outstanding if he runs well with that size.

Makes me wonder if prospects like him who want to show more weight  drink copious amounts of water the morning of weigh in and when they actually run come in several pounds less. I would.

Washington RB Myles Gaskin measured in at 5-foot-9, 205-pounds at the NFL Scouting Combine on Wednesday.

That's an inch shorter than his listed 5-foot-10 when Gaskin was playing for the Huskies. It's also 12 pounds heavier, which -- assuming it's "good" weight -- should help him handle the rigors of being an NFL back. While the measurement certainly has its importance, what will really be important for Gaskin is the speed testing. That will help determine if Gaskin is a Day 3 back, or an UDFA.

Boise State QB Brett Rypien measured in at 6-foot-1 and 5/8 inch and 212-pounds at the NFL Scouting Combine on Wednesday.

That's just short of the 6-foot-2 that Rypien was listed at Boise State, but we'll round up thanks to that 5/8 inch. Rypien is one of the more polarizing quarterbacks in this class, but no one denies that he's an accurate thrower of the football, and assuming he does throw in Indianapolis, he could battle to be one of the first quarterbacks off the board on Day 3.

ESPN's Steve Muench lists Ole Miss TE Dawson Knox as one of the most intriguing prospects taking part in the NFL Scouting Combine.

Knox (6'4/257) is the definition of potential outweighing production. The fact that he has a chance to be a Day 2 pick despite catching just 15 passes last year is evidence of that. "Listed at 6-4 and 257 pounds, he's expected to run well," Muench writes. "If he's 255 pounds, jumps well and runs in the mid-to-low 4.6-second range in the 40, look for a team to take a chance on that potential." As Muench also points out, however, this is a very deep draft class, so taking him in that range would mean (likely) passing on a productive player who didn't test quite as well.

Notre Dame RB Dexter Williams measured in at 5-foot-11 and 212 pounds at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Williams was listed at 5-foot-11, 215 pounds by Notre Dame last season. More or less on those marks, here, albeit a little lighter than the Irish had him at. Measurement was never going to be a serious concern for Williams, but he's in for an important week beyond that. Interviews will matter -- Williams has had off-field concerns in the past -- as will his testing times. We're not completely sold that he's going to crush the 40-yard dash, though there are certainly some corners of the evaluating community who see that as potentially being in play. Williams could land as high as Round 2 if a team falls in love with him. Again, big week upcoming.

Ohio State RB Mike Weber measured in at 5-foot-10 and 3/8 inches and 224 pounds at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Predictable enough on the height front, but Weber checked in at 10 pounds heavier than his listed weight from the 2018 campaign. In his pre-combine rankings, Draft Analyst's Tony Pauline hits up the OSU back with a fourth-round grade. Should he rip it up at the combine, he's not out of the question for a Day 2 selection. There's a decently-sized range for where he could come off the board.

Devin Singletary is even smaller than I expected at 5’7” 203 is Teams will have to work him out to make sure he can catch. If he can, there’s Tarik Cohen like potential. If not, he’s probably nothing more than a backup.

Florida RB Jordan Scarlett measured in at 5-foot-10 and 5/8 inches and 208 pounds at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Scarlett could use a nice week in Indianapolis, as he has one completely lost year under his belt -- 2017, due to a credit card fraud scandal -- and will need to satisfactorily address his missteps in addition to putting forth a strong testing show. While there's baggage, here, it's not necessarily baggage which will sink him. A year ago, the Browns drafted Antonio Callaway in the fourth round. Callaway was not only involved in the aforementioned scheme, but also reportedly failed a drug test while at the combine, a continued pattern from his time at Florida. Didn't matter. If Scarlett can hold his own in interviews and testing, he'll be in the Day 3 mix upcoming. He is possessing of plus vision and quickness.

Why?  There have been quite a few other high usage backs around that size.  That's about the same measurements as MJD.  McCaffrey was only 205lbs on a 5'11" frame at the combine.  Singletary is quite stout which is a build that works.  Cohen is 20+ lbs smaller and weighed in at almost 30lbs less at the combine.

Cohen, MJD and CMc are/were good to great pass catchers and much faster than anyone expects Singletary to test. I just don't see a lot of opportunity for a small, slow RB that isn't a plus receiver.

Is he slow?

Singletary does have a small frame but I really don't care on RB's, just the bulk. 203 is low but the guy he is comped to quite often, McCoy,  was only 198 at a little over 5-10 so he's beating him and McCoy is a solid pass catcher but I'd not label him great.

I think the expectation is that he's not very fast. If he runs fast that changes my opinion. MJD was 4.39, Cohen was 4.42 and CMc was 4.48. Singletary is projected more for the 4.58-4.65 range but he could surprise us. As for McCoy, he caught 65 passes in 2 college seasons which is quite  good. Singletary caught 51 in 3 years. Sometimes that is just coaching scheme which is why I said it's important for him to look really good in those drills during the combine, pro day and workouts.

Iowa State WR Hakeem Butler measured in at 6-foot-5 and 3/8 inches and 227 pounds at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Butler comes in just a smidgeon under his listed 6-foot-6 height for 2018 while checking in two pounds heavier than his listed 225 pounds. His impressive measurements go far beyond just height/weight, though, as he also measured out with giant hands (10 6/8 inches) and a pterodactyl-esque wingspan of 83 7/8 inches. Butler sizzles as a wideout when he needs to reach for passes, as he is adept at using his length (coupled with slick body control) to haul in tricky passes. If he can prove that he has the wheels in testing over the coming days, he may start to creep into the Day 1 conversation.

Ditto. There’s really no excuse for this other than a complete and epic fail to whoever was supposed to be training him
I would have expected him to be a lot larger especially given his foot issue. He likely wasn’t doing a ton of cardio and should have been bulking like crazy.

Well he probably couldn’t squat or deadlift. That actually could have set him back

True but since I assume he’s not testing st all, athleticism really isn’t a concern so he should have been able to add some weight even if it wasn’t good weight.

I think he definitely could have been lifting in some capacity to add weight

These RB’s may have sub optimal production but IIRC, they are destroying the bench in comparison to other classes. I know that’s not really a workout people care as much about but I know a lot around here love running to contact and it seems like these guys are probably suited to do just that.

Washington RB Myles Gaskin notched an unofficial 24 reps in the bench press at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Gaskin has done well for himself early on in Indy, at least as well as one can do before testing legitimately gets underway on Friday. He measured in at 5-foot-9, 205 pounds on Wednesday, an encouraging mark on the weight front after Washington listed him at 192 pounds for the 2018 campaign and now comes out firing with the impressive bench press mark. The bench for running backs has only limited value, but at the very least, Gaskin's showing a stellar strength component. Coupled with his better-than-expected weight measurement, he has helped himself. The Huskies standout is fighting it out for a Day 3 selection.

Alex Barnes best of RB bench reps at 34 reps...

Kyler Murray will not participate in any drills and I doubt he does much at his pro day either. Will be disappointing that Lamar and him won’t do 40’s back to back years. Thankful measured in game MPH is now a thing.

Kansas State RB Alex Barnes recorded an unofficial 34 reps on the bench press at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Holy moly. For reference's sake, the top offensive lineman in this event was Weber State's Iosua Opeta, who managed 39 reps. No. 2 among offensive linemen was NC State C Garrett Bradbury, who earlier put in the exact same mark as Barnes. The K-State product measured into proceedings at 6-feet-0 and 3/8 inches and 226 pounds on Wednesday. His 10-inch hands tied Miami's Travis Homer for the largest mitts among running backs testing in Indianapolis. In his most recent mock draft, Bleacher Report's Matt Miller mocked Barnes as a seventh-round selection. He could easily climb higher than that with a strong run through the testing gauntlet this weekend. Off to a slick start.
