[Dynasty] 2019 NFL Draft Class (1 Viewer)

@Hankmoody and @BoltBacker - you were the ones who expressed the most distaste for the practice of websites using Autoplay video. I have found that NFL.com, ESPN, CBS Sports and a majority of the secondary sports websites use this practice. I’d prefer not to add the disclaimer warning that the link contains an autoplay video as it seems pretty safe to assume that a majority of the links will have this feature. Hankmoody indicated that he has become used to hovering links and deciding which ones he wants to visit, so I’d respectfully suggest that be the best practice moving forward.

Cheers,

Faust
Absolutely.  As I initially indicated, I wouldn't want you spending time to cater to the few of us that have a preference, you're doing great work here so let us be the ones to handle it.

Jameis Winston said sixth-round WR Scott Miller has been "fantastic" in spring practices.

Coach Bruce Arians hyped Miller last month following the draft, pegging the rookie as a John Brown-type at 5'9/174 with 4.36 wheels. Scott Smith of the Bucs' official website notes Miller has been "very quick and fast" in practice and is in the mix to replace Adam Humphries in three-wide sets. It's important to note these practices are without pads or contact, so speed plays even more here. Still, Miller is making an impression while Breshad Perriman nurses a shoulder issue.

The Athletic's Paul Dehner reports fourth-round rookie QB Ryan Finley "looks bad" at Bengals practices.

"There’s just no way around it," Dehner writes. "It’s still early, but not so early that we can’t begin to wonder what the hell is going on." Finley was believed to be a reach when the Bengals took him at No. 104 overall, and his play thus far hasn't alleviated those concerns. Finley is probably safe to make the roster barring a preseason blowup, but he might not pass Jeff Driskel.

Giants fifth-round WR Darius Slayton worked with the first-team offense on the first day of minicamp.

Sterling Shepard and Golden Tate sit atop the depth chart, but the Giants have a lot of question marks behind them. Slayton getting first-team run during the offseason is promising, but it is possible Corey Coleman or Cody Latimer get the same treatment on Wednesday. Those three should compete for the job throughout camp.

Here are consensus ranking across the internet as of 6/14.  I have included pre-combine and pre-draft rankings for comparison.  Max value is 41, count is number of rankings 40 and below.  I also throw out the max and min for average and standard deviation.  Quartiles and median mark 25%, 50%, and 75% of distribution.

Top risers: Hardman, Campbell, Johnson, Boykin, Isabella

Top fallers: Harmon, Holyfield, Anderson, Williams, Weber

Others with at least 5 counts: Knox, Jennings (I need to get him off waivers), Warring, K. Johnson, Pollard, B. Anderson, Ollison, Scarlett

According to Tony Pauline of Draft Analyst, former West Virginia WR Marcus Simms is "very likely" to enter the NFL Supplemental Draft.

After catching 46 passes for 699 yards and two touchdowns last season, Simms (6'0/195) announced in late April that he would be leaving the WVU program. Pauline says that scouts have given Simms a sixth round grade, but he also has "a lot of character issues." The NFL Supplemental Draft will be held in July, and the former Mountaineer may not be the only player available to be selected.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said seventh-round WR John Ursua is a candidate to play the slot.

"He started to show us the kind of quicks and change-of-direction stuff that made him one of the big scorers in college football last year," Carroll said on Ursua's offseason. "You can see it, he's got a real style to him. He's a slot guy, he really is that mold." With Doug Baldwin gone, Ursua has a chance at taking over the slot, but he's part of a crowded rookie cast. The Seahawks depth chart behind Tyler Lockett likely won't be settled until deep into training camp.

Rotoworld:

Ravens rookie QB Trace McSorley has been taking reps as a punt returner.

McSorley called his new role "interesting" and didn't stop there. "It's had its ups and downs, obviously the first couple times doing it, but it's going well. I'm looking forward to be able to come out and do anything that I can, especially in the special teams aspect for the team." The sixth-rounder could be moved all over the field--wild cat, running back, tight end, slot receiver, returner, kick coverage--but don't expect him to compete for the actual starting quarterback job. The Ravens are basically galaxy-braining the Saints' Taysom Hill experience.

@Hankmoody and @BoltBacker - you were the ones who expressed the most distaste for the practice of websites using Autoplay video.
I just think that we, as a collective audience should be more discerning with regard to what websites we visit and support.

Websites that force you to download video into your browser before you click on ANYTHING are by definition pretty S####Y at giving their visitors a quality user experience. Those sites all take longer to load and/or use more mobile data. There is so much quality football content out there I would hope people find one of the other 500 sources that don't push videos you don't want to watch up your ####. I do find those sites pretty lazy and gross but the real problem is the people that support those sites by trafficking them anyway. This just in, they don't have any magical pearls of wisdom that you can't find elsewhere.

I'm not anti-advertising by the way. I'm anti-bad-advertising. It just amazes me that if Joe adds a small orange BUTTON on this site people complain. But when insipid videos get pushed into their browser they just shrug and continue to eat the soylent green. I guess that's how so many people end up with a $150+ comcast bill to sit in front of a television for the privilege of watching commercials. Some advertising goes too far and the only way to fight back is to turn away from both the content and the advertising. It's easier to do than most people think.

@BoltBacker - I understand your viewpoint and I don’t dispute the validity of the concerns that you have expressed.

I think my hands are tied in that ESPN, CBS Sports, Sports Illustrated, NFL.com and the majority of the other major NFL news sources all use autoplay video on their websites - elimination of links from these sources would result in a dramatic reduction of the news aggregation activities that I perform for the Shark Pool.

What websites do you like to gather information from that don’t utilize autoplay video?

I was just making my position clear, Faust. I think you do a great job of adding information to the Shark Pool. Unfortunately I don't really see it because I refuse to encourage those sites. We get the websites that we deserves, much like we get the politicians that we deserve. Until we refuse to put up with what is becoming "normal" at these big media sites like the ones you mention here.... it will only continue to get worse, and worse, and worse for their audience. If other people want to encourage that.... I can't really control it. Just letting my opinion be known.

Jaguars signed West Virginia WR Marcus Simms.

Simms (6'/188) was eligible for the Supplemental Draft on Wednesday but wasn't selected. He was thought to be the only other player with a chance to get picked, but Washington State S Jalen Thompson was the only player taken -- by the Cardinals in the fifth round. Simms ran the forty three times at his pro day, clocking times of 4.49, 4.45, and 4.40 while registering a 36-inch vertical leap and 10-foot-2 broad jump. Over his last two seasons at WVU, Simms caught 81 balls for 1,362 yards and seven touchdowns. He'll compete for a job in camp.

CBS Sports started that auto play years ago, to address I simply "mute" my tab...simply right click on your tab and you should see a "mute site" option.  Only need to do it once.  This may be only on Chrome browsers, went away from windows years ago.

Here's some in-depth analysis: The Philadelphia Eagles' first-round left tackle, Andre Dillard, is going to be really good.

All eyes were on #Eagles 1st-Round Pick Andre Dillard on Thursday night, and he did not disappoint. We knew about his great feet, but look at the hand usage on some of these clips. Great to see from the rookie. #FlyEaglesFly
