I have not spotted much on where the rookies would fall in 2020 dynasty rankings. So I thought I would give this a go in terms of average outcome from prior years. Hits and misses always happen, just trying to get a feel for average expectations. Here is what I did:
1. I averaged a bunch of sources to get a 2020 dynasty consensus ranking (to me the rankings best reflect 1 QB, 1 TE, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 flex, PPR leagues)
2. I separated out rankings for players drafted by year.
3. I took the average ranking for 2017-2019 and used that ranking for the 2020 class. Probably underestimating the 2020 class here. 2017 was outstanding, but averaging in 2018 and 2019 did not move it down as much as I thought it would.
4. I took the average ranking and assigned it to the 2020 consensus rookie ranking
5. Took the 2020 rookies and folded it into the 2020 dynasty consensus ranking
6. Net result - Dynasty consensus rankings precombine + rookies
The incoming rookies are going to drop everybody else's value. hopefully this helps in planning for it. The spreadsheet can be found here:
2020 Dynasty consensus ranking precombine + rookies
I also isolated the RBs, TEs, QBs, and WRs and did a chart with color scale using year and dynasty ranking. Makes it easier to visualize RB, WR, TE, QB value per draft year. The charts suggest strategies that we hear about a lot - draft WRs for rebuild, RBs to win now, QBs and TEs later in drafts, etc. Anyway, hope you find this useful.
