I follow Luke Easterling on Twitter, but the entire USA Today "wire" thing (DraftWire, CowboysWire) is so completely lame every time I see something, I won't even click on it.
It's like one little minor step up from FanSided or SB Nation. Web pages load like crap, there's no fresh info on any of the sites I have seen. I mean, still doing lame slide shows to pump up click numbers? Oy
Reading various stuff yesterday had me finally convinced, or at least convinced enough to think it's more likely then not, that SF really moved up to 3 to pick Mac Jones and moving ahead of Carolina was their goal.
I just wonder if Carolina pulled this move for Darnold because they did not think Lance or Fields would be available at 8 or don't want Lance or Fields even if they are available. I know Carolina said this does not take them out of the QB market but I don't think you can rehab Darnold with pick 8 on a cost controlled contract for 5 years breathing down his neck.

I actually thought that Jones was going to be under valued up until all the talk about him being the SF target at 3. Man, I just have such a hard time thinking that SF gave up all those picks for Jones.
But you're right. You look at Shanahan history with Matt Ryan and JG, and there are plenty similarities with those guys. I think Ryan has proved to be worth the 3 pick that Atlanta invested. Why not Jones? Hard for me to swallow, but if Shanahan has faith it will be hard for me to ignore that. Not sure where to rank him if that happens.
Ahead of the NFL draft, this is looking like the worst top of a draft class since 2019. I'm pretty sure that 2021 is the only draft that Mizelle has archived without a rookie in the top 24. This year, the highest rookie is currently at #25 overall and only 3 in the top 36.
You can look to NFL draft capital to change this in the coming months, but I think we are all going to be largely disappointed with both the depth and breadth of this class in 2-3 years.

I'm not familiar with mizelle. Are we talking about top 24 picks in a dynasty startup?

Me too, maybe it's just regression to the mean. In dynasty, historically not too many 2nd round picks are very exciting. Maybe just more of a typical year, rather than terrible. Three legit 1st round backs, all these QBs, I dunno if it's awful, but no, really unlikely it's special.

He's bigger and faster than D'Andre Swift. Just sayin'...
And he got snaps on the reg over Antonio Gibson, who Memphis featured as a gadget player because of Gainwell.
Top four RB? Maybe not, but he'll probably go in the third round in the NFL Draft, if you ask me.

Scratch that. He's the same height as D'Andre, and lighter. And slower. I retract. He'll be a pass-catching specialist at best, most likely. This is shaping up to be a bummer of a class, testing-wise.
