Dynasty Auction Draft Template (1 Viewer)

Anyone have a good draft template (Excel spreadsheet?) that would work well for a startup dynasty auction draft? All I can find are cheatsheets with values. What else should be on a good dynasty auction cheatsheet? thanks for the help

:excited: Honestly, I would offer assistance except I did my own and wouldn't want to give you my game plan :bye:

Doesn't Draft Dominator do most of what you need? I mean really, if you're doing a start up dynasty auction (which is really just a dynasty auction - becuase the dynatsy values are based on now anyway) - what other than DD do you need - what specifically are you looking for?

I am a complete Excel idiot, and put my own together fairly easily. Frankly, I am pretty damn proud of it.What I did was separated everyone by position on separate tabs. Obviously you want players grouped by your rankings, but you have to start somewhere, so I used FBG rankings, by position. I would use their rankings for as close to your league as possible. Use the MyFBG feature, to customize the lists. Then I cut/pasted the list onto my spreadsheet. By doing this, it automatically brings over the hyperlink from each player to your spreadsheet. So every time you click on a player, it'll bring you right to their FBG profile page. I learned this completely by accident, and it was a cool little feature requiring no extra work. From there, I moved players up/down, depending on where I wanted them.

I have columns with 2009 fantasy points (from my league, NOT FBG scoring), handcuffs (for QB), a column for notes (random info about the player, that I might pick up off the newswire and don't want to forget, maybe they just picked up another player at the position, a mini-camp injury, etc.), and a column for what price the player went for. If you do projections, you would have a column with projected FPTs, next to the 2009 number. I admit it, I don't do projections.

I also found another similar league that was also starting up, and have another column for the price the player went for in that league, next to the final price of MY league. It will take a bit of work to find another league similar to yours, but it is well worth it. It's a nice comparison, to see what players ACTUALLY went for, rather than vague numbers that are suggested prices. Where Excel came in handy was, the other league had a different salary cap, so I just created a formula for that column, which converted other dollars to MY leagues dollars. For example, if your league runs a $10,000 cap, and a comparison league runs a $1,000 cap, I just created a math formula so that every dollar is worth 10 of my dollars. My goal was to get guys for less money than he went for in the other league. It was certainly not a hard/fast rule, and auctions run differently, it's all about WHEN the players come out. It's the most tedious part of the process, entering in some other league's values, but I really liked having another league's numbers next to mine.

I also have tabs for target numbers, cut/pasted from FBG, an ADP list, which I didn't really use, but what I wanted to do was have the final auction price next to each player on that as well. So the way I'd do it next time is: Every time a player is won, you enter his price on your position list, and on the ADP list. One more way to gauge what the price should/could be for upcoming players. If you have Gaffney and Manningham rated next to each other, and Gaffney goes for $20, you don't want to spend $35 on Manningham. Kinda keeps you in check.

I have a tab for league auction/salary guidelines, all in one place. In my league, the salaries go up a certain amount, we have minimum salaries for players based on league experience, etc. Whatever numbers you want at your fingertips, I put there. Maybe the bylaws or rules of your league, scoring rules, etc.

I have a tab for the NFL schedule. I cut/pasted SuperJohns schedule grid, and it converts perfectly, color-coded, all the byes, etc. I have a tab with my roster as well, with byes listed, and grouped by position.

Happy to email it to you, might give you some ideas.
