Dynasty discussion- Knowshon Moreno (1 Viewer)

I had such high hopes on this kid coming out of Georgia. He simply just never seems healthy and doesn't have that burst that he showed in college. I'm trying to wrap my fingers around his potential moving forward though.

He was helping my team bigtime down the stretch this year until he got hurt of course in our conference championship game. He really showed very good ppr promise with Orton at the helm. Now with Tebow and the uncertainty around coaching I'm sure many will look elsewhere. That may be good advice, to wait for futher info but I was hoping to get some additional discuusion and possibly insight around and into his career possibilities.

What say you forum?

I traded Ray Rice for Moreno and Nicks because we are a TD heavy league and Moreno quite simply scores more TDs than Rice (plus getting Nicks is icing on the cake). I personally felt like Moreno would be a better option for me going forward and a great keeper option as well. Tebow and his running does scare me a little along with the injuries for Moreno, however, the same way Vick opens things up for McCoy could be the way that Tebow opens things up for Moreno.

In a redraft I wouldn't invest a real early pick on him personally, but in my keeper leagues I intend to hold him as I would expect similar numbers from what you are seeing with McCoy going forward. Plus, who's to say Tebow is the starter next year. Orton is still on board, the offense is solid and if they shore up their defense it is possible that Denver could compete in their division. If that is the case and Orton is still with them, I could see Orton running the team and Tebow spending another year learning how to throw NFL passes.

I think Moreno will be fine and could be a monster if he had a defense that kept games close or allowed them to get a lead.

Thinking about making a move for this guy in my keeper league. But will he ever see a carry from inside the 10 again, with Tebow as the qb?

I've always been a fan and think he is a major talent, but I don't think Tebow is good for him at all.

I am actually higher on Moreno than what I was at the start of the year. Yes, he continues to be having injury issues but he has really had some good numbers when he has been healthy this year. I think if Tebow is the starter next year they will cut down on using his running near the goal line. It's been a nice gimmick this year when he was backing up Orton but you don't want your starting QB to be taking a beating on some of the plays they have been using him on this year.

On the injury topic, does any other RB from the past pop up in comparison to Moreno? A guy that was fairly brittle in his first two years but then got it sorted out and went on more or less injury free?

I have a feeling that if the 18 game schedule becomes reality the injury factor will play a much bigger role. Guys that play all 18 will be a huge plus even if they don't put up top 10 ave numbers. Guys that give you top 10 ave numbers (like Moreno did this year) but can't gut out the whole year will be frustrating.

Fragile Fred Taylor is the biggest example. While he was a Wide Receiver, Isaac Bruce battled the same hamstring issues early in his career. Both players were downgraded significantly due to the injury issues, but ended up becoming pretty consistent starters later in their careers. The big thing with Moreno is that he hasn't had the torn ACL or Lis Franc type injury that seems to really destroy a player's value for over a year. That said, I liked Moreno's prospects better under McDaniels because he seemed to really want to force the ball to the kid. Now I worry that the next coaching staff will move toward a traditional RBBC. In Moreno's favor, he was able to average 4.2 ypc behind a line that looked pretty shaky to me the couple of times I saw Denver play. Maroney and Buchhalter, while they aren't world beaters, averaged 2.1 and 2.5, respectively. Also in Moreno's favor is that he's a good receiver. While a complete guess until they get a new coaching staff, I would think he's good for ~1200 total yards and 8 TDs/ year if he stays healthy.

Tebow is going to take a lot of the goal line touches away from Moreno.

Before he ran it in this weekend, he went to the sidelines and yelled at the coach, "No one touches the ball here but me!" or something to that effect. Can't quite remember.

I didn't understand from your post, who yelled that? Moreno or Tebow??

In the 5 games prior to Tebow starting, Moreno had over 20 fantasy pts every game. In the 3 games Tebow started, Moreno put up games of 1, 5, 5.

Tebow is bad for Moreno
