I've been mocking my PPR dynasty draft and am almost certain Westy and MJD will be available at my pick. I've tossed around the merits of each guy for weeks but still can't decide who the better choice is.
Westy
Positives
- Clear-cut starter on his team
- Over 200 receptions in 3 years
- Dramatically increased his carries last year
- Top-notch supporting cast
Negatives
- Injury concerns
- Turns 28 this season
MJD
Positives
- 15 TDs as a rookie
- 46 receptions in a part-time role
- Only 22 years old
- Learning behind a great back
Negatives
- Splitting time for the foreseeable future
- Hasn't carried a full load yet
- Suspect supporting cast
Being the younger back, certainly MJD has more long-term upside and his 15 TDs is more than Westy has ever had in a season, but we just don't know if he will eventually be a successful RB1.
Westy has proven himself to be a top 5 RB in the PPR format by averaging 18.66 ppg over the last 3 seasons, however the injury bug hits him often and he's only 2 years from the dreaded 30 mark. Can he be trusted as your RB1 for more than a year or two?
Who would you rather have? Why?
