Dynasty Draft from last night, 4 rounds (1 Viewer)

My team is the Midnight Express and I'm the commish, here was our 4 round rookie/free agent draft from last night. Our league is a dynasty in its 2nd year , 12 team PPR league, start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 TE, 1K, 1 D/ST .. Learn from our leagues controversy at the end of round 2 and beginning of round 3. Don't make the mistake of thinking that other people in your draft will have draft etiquette, don't make the mistake of thinking that some draft etiquette is common sense, because its not. Make your draft rules before the draft, and make everyone in your draft aware of the rules , so that you don't have a nightmare draft like we did.

1 AKA Titans - RYAN MATTHEWS, RB SD

2 BigBenDontRapeMe - JAVHID BEST, RB DET

3 VA RAIDERS - CJ SPILLER, RB BUF

4 Chitown Rydaz - DEMARYIUS THOMAS, WR DEN

5 The ORACLE (at this point, fresh meat had this pick and traded out of this spot for Shonne Greene RB Jets) - DEZ BRYANT WR DAL - Oracle then immediately traded Dez Bryant to My Vick in a Box for MVIB's 2011 1st and 2nd rd. picks

6 My Vick in a Box - BEN TATE, RB HOU

7 BigBenDontRapeMe (Traded From Iron City for Ben Roethlisberger and BBDRM 3rd round Pick in 2010 draft) - GOLDEN TATE, WR SEA

8 Warrior Nation - MONTERRIO HARDESTY, RB CLE

9 THE ORACLE - ARRELIOUS BENN, WR TB

10 The Corporation - SAM BRADFORD, QB STL RAMS

11 Midnight Express - DEXTER MCCLUSTER, WR KC

At this point in the draft, mad dog calls the commish, and says "I don't want to draft, I am just going to fill my team off of the waiver wire". The commish then relay's this to the league, which prompts the AKA Titans to phone over to mad dog and plead/beg for mad dog to make some draft picks, mad dog , through AKA Titans, drafts:

12 mad dog - BRANDON JACKSON, RB GB

2nd round

13) mad dog - PEYTON HILLIS, RB CLE

14) Midnight Express - JONATHAN DWYER, RB PIT

15) The corporation - TOBY GEHART, RB MN

24) AKA Titans - COLT MCCOY, QB CLE (Originally drafted Redskins Defense in this spot, see the note in the 3rd round, 27th pick overall, to see the controversey)

3rd round

25)AKA Titans - DARRIUS HEYWARD-BEY WR, OAK

26) Iron City (from BigBenDontRapeMe trade for Iron City 1.07 pick and Ben Roethlisberger) - AARON HERNANDEZ TE NE

27) MidNight Express (Traded from VA Raiders for Robert Meachum and VA Raider 2.10 2010 pick) - JOE MCKNIGHT RB NYJ (Midnight express drafted Colt McCoy originally in this spot, but the controversy started when Colt McCoy was already on the "mad dog" roster, mad dog had picked Colt McCoy up without drafting him off of the waiver wire, Midnight express then made this known to the league, at which time AKA Titans became irate and claimed he would have draft Colt McCoy if he would have known he was available. AKA titans claimed that he did a player search for Colt McCoy and Colt was unavailable. AKA Titans then wanted to rewind the draft, but Midnight Express, being the commissioner, and for the sake of the league, just simply released his claim for Colt McCoy, and re-drafted a different player Joe mcknight.

28) Chitown Rydaz - TONY MOEAKKI TE, KC

kick the #####.. he sullied the league by essentially making the 2.02 equal to the 1.12, effecting every pick after that.. what a #####!

I am in this league. The core group has played together in yearly redrafts for 12 years...including mad dog. There are long held friendships. Mad dog is computer illiterate and the draft was on cbssports chat. Over the years mad dog has shown interesting moves in ff play. Sometimes he comes out a winner. That said his decision and conduct during the draft was very disruptive. But the closeness of the group makes it tough to sanction him. Quite frankly there are very polarizing league members that unnecessarily complicate things but somehow as a dysfunctional tight knit group we work through it.

Im sure being that you are commish in this league and having obvious sweat equity it may seem useful or interesting info to post this debacle... Based on the wild unorthadox moves and obvious lack of buy in from your league "champion" its just a mess... proves only useful for one thing... to prove that some leagues are random, unpredicatable, clusterfunks come draft day...

sorry, I really dont mean anything personal by that its just that it clouds the water worse for some folks that may come here trying to gain some real strategic knowledge heading into our rookie drafts...

it is interesting in a science fiction sorta way. guess some of it hypothetically "could" happen.

I think the pearl of wisdom that OutlawAssassins provided is that clusterfunk drafts can be avoided if careful planning and rule sets are firmly entrenched prior to drafting. I sort of agree though that his post was more than likely a simple catharsis following what was clearly a clusterfunk. In all likelihood, the histrionics of the draft may not provide nearly as much benefit as maybe the draft picks themselves.

I want my 3 minutes back.

In other news...my league just had a trade

Team A gave up Year 2010 Draft Pick 2.07;Year 2010 Draft Pick 2.10

Team B gave up Year 2010 Draft Pick 2.04;Year 2010 Draft Pick 3.12; Year 2012 Round 4 Draft Pick from Team B

This actually is a great example of what can happen in drafts. People asking "what can go wrong" should take notice. And for a dynasty rookie draft it should not be snake. The intresting part of your draft was the ability of "the oracle" to aquire all those draft picks for next years draft. 5 picks in the first two rounds next year is HUGE. Very impressive. I to will be looking to pull such a shrewd move in my draft next week.

Oracle did good up to point it traded d. Bryant. Trading away great wr with potential to tear up nfl for next ten yhears in ppr league for uncertainty of more picks was dumb move. Classic case of never being satified.

actually yes, "mad dog" won the league last year
I wouldn't allow someone to "not draft", that doesn't make any sense and ruins the integrity of the league. I would leave any league where this happened in I think.
I am drafting number 11 in all rounds our rookie/FA draft (non serp style) this year and if there is no one I like better than the guys I have I dont plan on drafting someone just to draft. I dont see what the issue is.

It is in our by-laws that we have a 5 round rookie draft every year and each team has their picks, you could not make a FA acquisition at this time like Colt McCoy. You don't physiacally have to draft, if you don't the system will choose your pick (hasn't happened yet). With our structure you can drop yor picks later with no consequence. I am pretty new to dynasty and I have seen this before but what I don't understand is that there are choices being made that are not rookies yet it is called a rookie draft?? In our league it is rookies. People that are not on rosters will be picked up later in an auction format, so.. I have a question - in some leagues rookie drafts are not rookies? Thanks

Yeah, just depends on specific league rules. Some are rookies only and others are open to veteran FAs as well.

So basically, Mad Dog just lived up to his name. Hey, nothing wrong with a colorful history to your rookie drafts. Ours are pretty boring, everybody picks predictably. Yawn.
