A little surprised that Shockey is winning.

Yeah, Heap was hurt last year(more so than Shockey) but Heap is also the #1 target in his offense. Shockey could be anywhere from 2nd to 4th depending on how Smith/Toomer looks.

A healthy Heap catches 70-80 passes, Shockey will struggle to get to 60 and is just as injury prone as Heap.

I think they're pretty close, and I'm probably not drafting either. But if I absolutely had to pick, I'd take Heap.

I'm taking Heap since I own him and he can potentially get a good QB someday. The only reason they are even is that Heap has no QB. Put Heap with Manning and Shockey with whatever is in Balt. and it's not even a contest.

:lmao: Pretty much the same thoughts for me as well. I would love to see what he could do with a top notch QB

I question that bolded part.2007 isn't fair to Heap - he played just 6 games - so let's look at 2006 and even 2005:

2006 Ravens target leaders:

Todd Heap - 116

Mark Clayton - 114

Derrick Mason - 112

2005 Ravens target leaders:

Derrick Mason - 137

Todd Heap - 113

Mark Clayton - 86

Ravens Team Data

I'm not saying that Heap's not up there, but he isn't the "clear #1 target in that offense".

For comparison for Shockey:

2007 Giants target leaders:

Plaxico Burress - 140

Amani Toomer - 104

Jeremy Shockey - 93 (14 games)

2006 Giants target leaders:

Plaxico Burress - 121

Jeremy Shockey - 115

Tiki Barber - 82

Giants Team Data

By the way, I went with Heap. Both have injury histories, but the Ravens have room to grow at QB and also Heap doesn't have a TE2 nipping at his heels.

just to clarify, are you saying Shockey has a top notch QB?

Heap is a stud....Shockey is a cry-baby. How each of them deals with injuries speaks volumes. You NEVER see Heap on the sideline complaining. About anything. Unless Heap is seriously dinged up, he's there to play. Every down.

Cam Cameron, antonio gates breakout offensive coordinator, is now calling the shots for Baltimore. Im not sure if Cam's hiring increases Heaps value, but it sure does solidify him as a top shelf te. Surprised nobody has mentioned the hiring.

Voted for Jeremy Shockey.

Heap is a great guy and he gives full effort but his body seems to be breaking down with nagging injuries (hamstring). Shockey's injuries have been more of the "what can you do?" variety (broken leg). Unlike Heap I give Shockey a better chance of playing at a high level for the next three seasons. Shockey keeps getting in his own way and the Giants Super Bowl win without him should be a huge wake up call. He also has a much better QB situation and plays in a superior offense (in NY or NO).

Sorry, but that's just not right.Shockey's had several leg injuries that weren't "what can you do" types. Hamstring / ankle issues.

If your point is the number of injuries suffered, I agree. If your argument is time missed than I'd disagree. Heap and Shockey may be roughly the same age but my opinion is that Heap's body is breaking down while Shockey is fine, physically at least. :goodposting: How many games has Shockey missed due to those "nagging" injuries. A: 1 game in each of the past 3 seasons + his broken leg last season

How many has Heap missed? A: Just last year he missed more games due to a nagging ankle and hamstring injuries than Shockey has missed total in the last four seasons. Heap Blogger News

If your argument is that Heap gives his owners a better shot at 16 games I'm fine with that. I'm also fine with Shockey missing his 1 game next year...I just don't want Heap on my roster when he misses half the season again. I also happen to believe that Shockey will put up better numbers per game than Heap next year but it looks like I'm in the minority with that one.

I'm not arguing. I've been down the road with both TEs - they both are injury magnets and are both "gamers".The point of contention is that you stated that Shockey gets more "what can you do" type injuries like a broken leg - implying that he doesn't get nagging injuries. That's simply false.

Heap and Shockey are weekly injury report guys and are often in that dreaded "game time decision" category. Ankles, hamstrings, whatever - you sweat them each Sunday.

For a 2008 outlook and also for a Dynasty outlook, I favor Heap. Shockey's a good talent, just like Heap, but he's getting pushed by Boss and there are other places for Eli to throw. Heap has room for upside in that offense if he gets a decent QB.

Both have injury histories and both could break down in 1, 2 or 3 years.

Gotcha, that makes sense. I have a healthy respect for Heap, I'm just not sure he's a "gamer" anymore. Mentally I don't question him...that question is saved for Shockey.
