**Dynasty** How important is it to trade for draft picks? (1 Viewer)

I just wanted to get an opinion from you guys about trading for future draft picks in a dynasty league... I just joined my 1st dynasty league this season and it was a startup league and most the members in the league agree that 1st round picks are not as important as i have read on this site.

So my question is how much value do you guys put into your 1st and 2nd round draft picks in future rookie drafts?

The way i see it they are important because those picks are what you use to rebuild a team or add depth....but i may be wrong? what kind of value do you guys use for 1st and 2nd round picks?

I think you'll find it's cyclical. What I mean is, when the NFL draft is approaching and rookies start getting hype, a lot of dynasty owners go ape over the first round rookie draft picks. That's the time to turn yours into a solid vet if an owner is a little too antsy to draft the next big rookie. On the flip side, rookie picks at the beginning of the year and even mid season don't hold a lot of value. You'll be able to get them cheaper.I'm in serious rebuilding mode in my 14 team dynasty league this year, mostly because I got too old at running back too fast in my quest to win it all (Holmes and Green). I've been stockpiling first rounders, and I'm going to look to flip them for vets prior to rookie draft day. And if I can't, then I'll just draft best player available.

I like having extra draft picks in my Dynasty draft as sites like FBG give me that extra edge in finding those gems. You can also trade up easier offering two first rounders. The trick is not trading away too much for them. One true thing to look at is how many teams are in your league. A first round pick in a 12-16 team league is worth much more than a first rounder in a 8-10 teamer.

Turth is , it depends on the Draft Class coming out. Some years its WR heavy other years RB heavy Etc Etc. If its a strong year for a positon your hurting at it might be a good year to aquire a couple extra picks. Usually if your try and get too many picks you end up gving a guy or two up you should have just sat on for abit. Also being in the know during the college season will help you form your personal opinions about the draft class coming out. This year seems like WR's and QB's from a fanatsy perspective from IDP its definitely the year of the Saftey.
