I didn't read the last half of this thread (don't really care), so excuse me if this has been said before.Team B is being a ####. He's trying to twist the rules, instead of playing by the spirit of the rules. No way he should be able to keep MJD for any less than Team A could of.The commish is a #####. Quit tip toeing around asking everybody what they think he should do. He knows the rules and he knows what he meant by the rules. Make a freaking decision and enforce it you wuss!Uh, no offense intended. :lmao:
You're perfectly entitled to your opinion. I didn't make this topic to decide what I would do. I made this topic to get an outside opinion from people not involved in the situation.I made my decision before this topic was created. Team B quit as a result of my decision. I created this topic so that hopefully he would see that it wasn't just me who shared this opinion. As the topic continued to drag out and he continued to believe that I was just "screwing him over", I told him that I was sick of the topic, MJDs salary would not change and if he wanted to quit, I wouldn't stop him anymore. And he did.In the future the league rules will be stated very clearly and everything will be air-tight. I obviously made a lot mistakes in this entire process.
If he was a good owner, you really blew it. If he wasn't, you did the league a favor.

He seemed to be a good owner. I tried to get him to stay initially, but we weren't able to settle our difference. I didn't kick him out of the league, I just quit stopping him from leaving.

One way to structure the rule in the future is have the team that currently owns the player have to submit the maximum price he is willing to match before the player is bid upon. once the auction is over just compare the highest max bid with the retaining team's highest matching price. You can decide from there if you want to set the new price to be the bidding teams highest bid or one more than the highest matching price if the bidding teams bid is higher.

I have posted in this topic a fair amount because I felt strongly this is the sort of issue that can tear a league apart. That is also why I previously stated this needed to be addressed immediately. I think it was a poor decision and now I see it ultimately made an owner walk away (deservedly so). It is a shame when a messed up rule is handled so poorly and an owner quits.

Sometimes you need to look at fairness and intent when a rule does not seem to fit. It did not happen here.
