I think Andre Johnson is a great example of what you describe. Would you trade Colston for Andre Johnson? Now remember, Johnson has been in just about the WORST situation you can think of for a WR - Carr, no O-line, no true #2 WR, and unimaginative coordinators (until last year - no surprise that his numbers spiked with Kubiak, even with the same crappy line and QB). Roy Williams and Lee Evans are two more ubertalented WRs who were saddled with bad QBs and bad offenses early in their careers who broke out once they got even modest upgrades in QB quality and offensive creativity. Get these types of guys in Colston's situation and they would easily be top 3 fantasy WRs.I said before that Andre Johnson is basically the floor for Calvin's early career, and I stand by that. So, would you trade Colston for Roy, Lee, or Andre? Now factor in that Calvin is MORE physically talented than any of them. The point here is that massively talented yawners don't induce sleep for very long unless the brass of their franchsie is COMPLETELY brain dead (insert Al Davis joke here)Last thing - I agree that we should not treat the other side as irrational in this debate. Like Squeeno said, its an excellent discussion - Colston and CJ are close enough that there really are compelling arguments on both sides. Like Joe says, let's be excellent to each other - especially at this time of year when the boards at their best quality.Sorry, I've seen too many "sure fire stud rookie WRs" turn into yawners when they end up on teams with bas supporting casts and bad coaches. Considering NFL production, supporting cast, offensive success and team stability over measurables and college success doesn't make one an "idiot.

Let's not forget that elite WRs can often carve out their own living. Randy Moss essentially made Randall Cunningham, Brad Johnson, and Daunte Culpepper while he was in Minnesota. Jeff Garcia had his best fantasy seasons when Terrell Owens was around. Anquan Boldin dominated with Jeff Blake at the helm. More recently, he and Fitzgerald both put up very big numbers with a McCown/Warner duo under center. Chad Johnson had his breakout year with Jon Kitna as his QB. As much as I like where the Saints are headed, I would not pass on Calvin Johnson for Marques Colston. Every year brings 1-3 guys who appear to be absolutely can't miss. Calvin Johnson is one of those guys. He has all of the football skills, all of the measurables, and a spotless character. Even though he's not even in the NFL yet, I think he's one of the 10 safest NFL WRs based on talent alone.
