For the Dynasty Owners out there, tell us the best trades you made and the worst. Let us know when the trade "went down" as well so it can be more easy to relate to.
Here is my story: 2 seasons ago, fall of 2005, I was in dead last in my dynasty league and it was right before our trade deadline for the season. Time to make a purge and rebuild for future. My 1st round draft pick RB's weren't panning out too well from the past few years (Chris Brown/Julius Jones) and I had some decent finds on the waiver wire in the offseason with Brian Westbrook, I think Westy was around the 15th-20th best RB in our scoring system or so in 2005. I had no WR's at all in our top 15 fantasy points. Most everyone at the time in this forum didn't have much faith in Westy....said he's too small, not an everydown back...will get hurt etc. etc. etc.
My strategy for 2006...get as many young RB's as possible via the draft and get a veteran stud WR via trade since rookie WR's are so hard to predict.
I targeted another bad record owner (to target a high draft pick) and we did the following trade:
He got:
Chris Chambers and Brian Westbrook
I got Joe Horn (who in 2005 was like the #7 or #8 WR or so...was not that old and very consistent for several years past..targeted as a good value pick).
and his 1st round pick (which turned out to be #2 overall).
The verdict:
Losing Chambers hasn't hurt too much at all.
Westbrook is #2 RB in our scoring system this year (never saw this one coming at all)
Joe Horn was worthless in 2006/07....instantly fell off the map after I aquired him (I thought he had at least 2-3 years of top 10 WR left in him)
I thought I was in great shape for a rebuild. I had the #1 and #2 overall rookie picks last year.
I took Reggie Bush at #1 (no surprise) and DeAngelo Williams at #2 (from all of the reading in the forums..Maroney, Addai and Williams were all pretty much a cointoss at #2)
So neither of those 2 picks have really worked out for me yet, although I guess the verdict is still out somewhat on Williams. Bush is looking to be a bust though (TD heavy scoring league...no PPR)
Well there it is. Everything looked brilliant but none of the players panned out (except for the 1 guy I targeted at my RB's Westy whom I thought was in a "sell high" situation at the time).
The best trade I've made: All of the ones that I initiated but I couldn't close the deal with the other owners (couldn't come to terms)...most of those trades, the other owners would have benefited greatly.
