Dynasty Prospect (1 Viewer)

He has a chance to be very good. He has good size and speed, and his hands seem to be OK.

Problem with WRs though is they are dependent on a lot of other things. He should push past Jenkins and Horn next year, and Crump is aging, but Roddy is the #1 for now and there are a lot of changes coming in ATL concerning QB, HC, OC, scheme. Until all that shakes out, there is no way to do more than guess as to his opportunity. WR2s are gold in some places, garbage in others. Martz in ATL? Gold. Schottenheimer? Blech. Definitely worth stashing, but don't have big expectations until we see how everything evolves.

there's some threads from this summer that are pretty good

Alot of us expected more from him, really, and less from the starters. White and Jenkins(pretty much) kept him out of the game by improving their own game which really makes Laurent an excellent draft pick.

Petrino really praised Laurent this past summer so like CP said, it'll be interesting to see how he takes to a new staff.

Brian Finneran may be back next year. He's big, and nice work ethic, attitude and all. While he's no threat to the starters, he has his uses and can make a 3rd WR not so useful in FF.

INteresting prospect. I think we need to see what happens with their QB situation first and foremost. I think it's safe to say Robinson should be the favorite for the #2 role there next season.

About yesterday's big TD catch: As good as it was to see him make the play, it was awful coverage by Antrell Rolle (who absolutely guessed that Robinson was going to run a streak....while Robinson end up running a skinny post. That said, Rolle wouldn't of had to have guessed if say Jenkins was running the same route).

I was glad to see him have a big game. I think he easily moves past Jenkins this offseason and into the #2 role, and may overtake White in a year or two after that. That said, his surroundings are definitely in flux. He may need 2 more years before he's a viable starter, but he's a great stash and wait guy, with great upside.

Not the type of guy who blows you away in highlights, but it's important to realize that many of the top WRs in the NFL aren't 6'5" with 4.3 speed. Robinson seems to fit the mold of a Darrell Jackson/Chad Johnson/Reggie Wayne/TJ Housh type of receiver. He was drafted 75th overall (ahead of Jason Hill), which is within ten spots of where Chris Henry, Bernard Berrian, Nate Burleson, Kevin Curtis, Deion Branch, Steve Smith, Laveranues Coles, Darrell Jackson, and Marty Booker were taken.

It's pretty common to see good receivers come out of rounds 2-4. Robinson was taken pretty high, and when you factor in that small school guys tend to go a bit lower in the draft than their talent might justify, I think you have the makings of a pretty good sleeper.

Joe Horn is on the way out, Roddy White looks like a bit of a bust, and Michael Jenkins isn't the type of receiver who strikes fear into anyone's heart. The Vick factor is a bit of a concern, but there's opportunity here.
I thought going into the season there was an outside chance that Robinson would emerge as the team's top WR, but that was under the assumption that Roddy White and Michael Jenkins were busts. White's emergence should slow Robinson's rise to becoming a useful FF WR since Atlanta isn't a passing juggernaut and there are only so many targets to go around.I'm still pretty high on Robinson as a long-term player though. He had about the type of rookie year you'd expect. He made a handful of nice grabs, but also disappeared some weeks. All in all it wasn't a bad season when you consider the supporting cast and the fact that he's a rookie WR coming out of a D1AA school.

He runs well and seems pretty coordinated. In terms of playing style and body type I think I was pretty dead on with my Reggie Wayne, Chad Johnson, and Darrell Jackson comparisons. It would be presumptuous to assume that he'll ever be as good as any of those three, but he does everything well and seems to be a relatively natural football player (not just an athlete trying to play football).

He should come out next year fighting for that WR2 spot in Atlanta and I'd expect him to be victorious. Jenkins seems pretty inconsistent and Horn is a dinosaur. Robinson is known as a hard worker who puts in the extra time needed to maximize his potential. At worst I think he can be an average WR2 in the NFL. At best he could be a perennial 1,000 yard guy. We probably won't know for a few years since it seems as if Atlanta is 2-3 years away from having a strong passing game. Robinson is still a good guy to trade for or draft. He is one of the more promising players from his draft class once you get outside the obvious guys like Peterson, Lynch, Calvin, and Bowe.

Sometimes, when I watch a player, a guy will strike me as a playmaker, a guy that can rsie tothe occassion and has a knack for the game. Robinson struck me as that sort of player in the preseason. I managed to pry him away from a guy that was in contention, but was desperate for a good FG kicker... so I traded Gotkowski for Robinson. I think it could turn out to be a steal in a year or two. He just seems like a playmaker to me.

Ya know who he reminds me of? Brandon Marshall.
