I'll say Cutler with Kolb not as far from Ryan as some might think.
Cutler might have some maturity issues, but so did John Elway and Terry Bradshaw at one time. One thing Cutler does is throw beautiful passes and he has that franchise-level skill of doing it off balance or on the run. He can change the game with his arm (both good and bad), which usually there are only 3-5 QBs in the league can do it at any given time. Right now those QBs are Favre, Cutler, Stafford, Roethlisberger, Freeman, and maybe Flacco. Only three of them have enough experience processing the game well enough to make more positive than negative plays in a given week.
I also like Cutler's toughness. This year was a transition for Cutler and the Bears. I expect they will figure out how to maximize his skills.
I am not that impressed with Matt Ryan to think he's the next franchise stud. He's a good player, but he really struggled under pressure in the pocket. Far more than what was advertised. I like him to be that Matt Hasselbeck-Carson Palmer kind of player who is capable of being really good, but doesn't quite get there. Maybe he'll show he can fix his issues handling pressure and sliding in the pocket, but that's a tough thing to do. He over-thought his reactions to pressure and that's a concern for me when I watched him nearly every week.
Kolb needs to prove that his nice outing last year is more than a fluke. I think he will, but projecting him to be better than two established starters before he's had a season in the books isn't wise. I like what I saw from him in the pocket, but I want to see more.
