E Manning split open (1 Viewer)

Jacobs misses play change, blows up Manning and knocks his helmet off. Manning is hit from behind and then catches an elbow. Big cut, lots of blood.

Not sure this really warrants a big Manning hurt headline. He gashed his head, dozen stitches and hell be fine. But each their own.

I have a twofold worry. The gash is so bad that he cant get a helmet on comfortabley or the head injury, like most head cuts, reopens on hits if he doesn't get a while to let the area heal.

The stitches looked like they'll be upper forehead, just under the hairline. That's gotta be some major discomfort when wearing a helmet, right?

That could have been a lot worse. He was speared right between the shoulder blades why he was basically helpless. He's lucky that didn't seperate a shoulder.

Brandon Jacobs pretty much took a steel chair to Eli's head to put this in WWF terms.
assuming jacobs went the wrong way on that play action, coughlin will and do his angry man thing in jacobs face and put him in the doghouse. bump bradshaw.

that was a nasty cut....shouldn't effect fantasy at all, but it may cause him to have some helmet discomfort. They may want to keep him from wearing a helmet for awhile.

Did the whole offensive line miss the play change as well, because it sure looked like they were run blocking and not pass blocking.

Eli looked like Dusty Rhodes after a cage match with Ric Flair in the 80s, thankfully no concussion that we know of. Was Brandon Jacobs to blame? He sure was not apologetic when he walked over to Coughlin on the sidelines, seemed to have an atitude.

 Speared implies leading with the helmet. Either learn your terms or watch the play before you comment on it. The hit was as clean as it comes. The DE hit Eli with his shoulder pad.. and not even hard! What happened (since you obviously didn't see it) was Jacobs got under Eli's helmet when Eli spun around and lifted the chinstrap off his chin. Eli didn't see the hit coming but there was nothing malicious. The DE didn't even drive Eli to the ground, he was still standing up looking for the ball. Eli's helmet was loose and came off. He fell forward into a face mask of another D player.. and he didn't even fall hard. But thank you for the over exaggeration!

Loved this quote from O'Hara.

By TOM CANAVAN, AP Sports Writer

Giants center Shaun O’Hara(notes) said seeing Manning bleeding profusely was scary.

“When you see a quarterback bleeding like that, it was something out of a Friday The 13th Movie,” O’Hara said. “Now we know it’s pretty much a laceration. I think, hopefully, it will make him look a little tougher.”

Ok. Maybe "speared" was a bad choice of words. I didn't mean to imply the hit was dirty. Eli was distracted, looking around for the ball, and he got BLASTED (better?) from behind right on his throwing shoulder. All I'm saying is that he's lucky he didn't get "injured" rather just taking a nasty cut.

Coughlin said only Barden heard that Eli switched it from run to the fade route.Q: What happened on the play where Eli got injured?

A: There was a run called and Eli just went for the fade ball with the wide receiver without really making any type of an alert or changing the play so he was just going to go ahead and communicate with the receiver and throw the ball. The only problem was that the play that had been called was a middle burst by Brandon Jacobs and Brandon thought he was getting the ball.
