per Chris Mortensen (via twitter):
---Filed to ESPN: Contrary to one speculative report, the Eagles did unanimously authorize union to decertify, if necessary, next March.
---The Cowboys also voted unanimously Wed on decertification process, too; the Redskins are next (Friday) after the Eagles unanimous vote today
---Last time union decertified, NFL implemented last best offer.
---Decertification - if it comes to that next March - would prevent the players from striking, which they have said they will not do.
---Decertification is a process where union would no longer be empowered to represent players in collective bargaining; last resort, as noted
---Last time the union decertified in 1989, no work stoppage and played continued until legal rulings influenced a new CBA in 1993.
--------
The last thread about this topic concerning the Saints (having the same unanimous vote) was shut down, I think because of the FFA-style pro-union vs non-union arguments.
Amongst a lot of rhetoric, there was some good info on what this actually means for the looming lockout possibility.
Maybe this can be kept on point, ie what this means for the NFL in 2011 (and beyond).
