Threads were posted on their message board about it

No major cuts except the Eagles are keeping their Aussie punter Sav Rocca

Fantasy impact- Bump down Akers.. the Eagles dont have a great holder...

I'm a Eagles fan but who cares... here is the list

NOTE- The Eagles are not denying the accuracy of the list but here it is....

The cuts and the Eagles notes:

Nate Ilaoa (RB) Big back with good hands, needs to develop pass blocking skills

Jason Davis (FB) Good natural runner who worked way back from ACL injury in '06

Jeremy Cain (FB/LS) After playing with the Bears as a linebacker, tried to stick as fullback

Jeremy Bloom (WR) Didn't provide boost in return game as Eagles hoped

J.J. Outlaw (WR) Developed as an outside receiver, but couldn't break numbers crunch

Michael Gasperson (WR) Tall receiver who was practice squad project past two seasons

Zac Collie (WR) Had great touchdown grab vs. Jets and another lost due to penalty

Lee Vickers (TE) Converted defensive end who Eagles took on as project

Jonathan Palmer (T) Too many experienced veterans, even at backup spots

Jasper Harvey © Eagles already have two young, atheltic centers

Jacob Hobbs (G) Small-school product was the lightest O lineman in camp

Pat McCoy (T) Rookie free agent last year, didn't take big enough step in Year 2

Marques Murrell (DE) Great pass-rush ability, but too small to play the run

Mauricio Lopez (DT) Space-eater, but not enough push for what Jim Johnson needs

Ian Scott (DT) Run stuffer whose knee injury hindered his progress

Akeem Jordan (LB) Quick, but undersized for position

Dedrick Roper (LB) Special teams demon, lost time in camp with foot injury

Dustin Fox (CB) Former third-round pick slowed by Achilles injury

Nick Graham (CB) A difficult cut after consistent performance since May

Marcus Paschal (S) Was neck-to-neck with C.J. Gaddis all camp

Erick Harris (S) Seasoned in NFL Europa, couldn't beat out Gaddis for fourth spot

Dirk Johnson (P) A steady force, had some of the best seasons in team history

Eagles explained it as "We just dummied in names so that when we actually get the REAL list, we don't have to go through and make the list from scratch. These are not the real names. We don't have the names. I am sure I will get in trouble. We publish a chart in the back end of the admin and made it non-active. We had no idea it went live anywhere. It is not factual at all."

Not sure I believe it.. we'll see tomorrrow!!

I'm no kicker expert, but unless they plan on trading for Tony Romo, I imagine someone else can handle the holding duties.
You are no expert...They had Koy Detmer for years and he was the man

Dirk Johnson was the holder

In preseason Rocca was the holder as well.

last night Rocca botched a hold resulting in a miss...

you have to catch and rotate the ball.. probably harder than it sounds

Allegedly Schoebel did this in the past

Feeley just broke his hand so he may not be an option

Diddinger predicting that the Birds will put Buckhalter back there for return duties, now that boy wonder is out. (610WIP). The only other options would be Lito or Westy, but there's now way they'd put Westy back there again....hopefully

Keeping the Aussie Rules punter though!!!...... man can this guy kick

Barksdale can return kicks and was doing just that in TC.Lots of youth on that LB corps...

No matter, I'll have to give Reid the benefit of the doubt that someone will be able to hold the ball. He wouldn't have cut Johnson if that were the case.

Eagles now saying these names aren't official, oops is right. Official list to be posted tomorrow according to G. Cobb (610WIP). Oh now, Dave Spadaro (Eagles website official) is on apologizing saying it was his fault and the list isn't accurate at all......hmmm :goodposting:

If this list is correct, does that make Bill Sampy the 6th WR/PR???

This is the only one that surprised me. Interested to see if the list is for real.

Glad they are keeping Rocca, but with the injury to AJ maybe thats an opening to bring back Koy
Please don't ever use those words again. Thanks.
Koy = great ball holder, its clear we need thatI do hope he never plays as a QB for us again
I'm sure he is a great ball holder...

You can't have a roster spot just for "holder".
We did for years, why do you think he was on the roster?

I think there's a few guys in Dallas that might argue this....

Same here. Although I guess I was a bit surprised about Bloom. I figured he had at least better than 50/50 shot.

Bloom had a better than 50/50 shot; he just didn't do enough with it. Reid, who as you know keeps things close to the vest, was pretty frank about Bloom this preseason; it was clear that Bloom hadn't done enough to wow Reid and the ST coaches; and he's just completely unequipped to play wide receiver.

Scott was just a byproduct of the numbers. The Eagles were certainly going to keep five defensive ends: Trent Cole, Darren Howard, Jevon Kearse, Juqua Thomas, and Victor Abiamiri. And since Howard can play tackle in passing downs; the team really only had need/room for four defensive tackles. You knew Brodrick Bunkley, Mike Patterson and LaJuan Ramsey were locks; which pretty much left Ian Scott and Montae Reagor fighting for a spot.

Sorry Jason, I should have been more clear. I thought that, going into last night's game, Bloom was 50-50. I certainly didn't think that at the beginning of camp, I thought he was a lock.

That list looks pretty damn accurate to me. Sucks that Dirk has to go, he looked pretty good this year, but Sav is a beast and not just a big leg, he can place the ball well too.

Supposedly whatever the Aussie football equivalent to pooch kicking is, he was a master at it. He's got a booming leg with an end-over-end kicking style and the ability to drop it down near the goal line. The holder position is definitely cause for concern. First Akers lost his long snapper, now he has a rookie holder. His kicks certainly don't look as automatic right now. The WIP afternoon guys (incl. Ray Didinger as fill in host) said the concern on Akers face is almost noticeable. In previous years he could practically kick it with his eyes closed. And fwiw - Ray Didinger is the ONLY voice regarding Eagles football I trust and respect. Hall of Fame sports writer who works (I believe) for NFL films. Eagles homer who certainly tells it like it is.

Oh good - it was Spadaro's fault? He is such a smacked ###, I'm glad to see him with egg on his face.

I'm sure he is a great ball holder...

We did for years, why do you think he was on the roster?
Umm...as a QB?You know, came in for injured McNabb, played tons every pre-season, etc?

and was brought in near the end of last years to be a holder because every one else was botching it...from wp:

"He was re-signed on January 2, 2007 by the Eagles to provide a third QB for the team's playoff push. Koy was also re-signed to be the kick holder for the Eagles. This is something Detmer has been great at throughout his career and continued to prove this in the Wild Card win versus the New York Giants."

he's one of the best holders in the league, and when all you have is bad holders (to go along with a rookie snapper) - a good holder is worth a roster spot...
