Assume standard PPR scoring rules apply - what is the early reaction to ranking the first four rookies for FF purposes?

It's Mathews, Bryant, Spiller and Best at this point.

Mathews should be the pick if someone needs to win right now, but I can see taking Bryant 1.01 if you're willing to wait.

Best is 1.04 right now, but I think someone else in a better position ends up being the consensus pick.

Thomas took the biggest hit of all and I can see him sliding the late 1st round now.

Gresham had the potential of becoming a high fantasy pick, but being taken by the Bengals crushed his value.

I wouldn't sleep on Thomas. I think he is the go-to WR in Denver week 1. Plus he's physically a beast. Biggest ? is the QB.

I say Matthews, Best, Spiller, Bryant ..

My guess is Buffalo didn't take Spiller at #9 overall to not give him touches in the running and screen/passing game...but I think Matthews is the best choice due to opportunity/situation in San Diego. Best should see significant playing time in Detoit as well and he's a great receiver out of the backfield. I love Bryant too..but he joins a crowded Dallas team...Miles Austin, Roy Williams, Jason Witten, Patrick Crayton are already catching passes there.

This is hilarious. I'm really shocked at all the Mathews love. It must be the situation, because hardly anyone was touting him as a top 2 or 3 FF dynasty pick back in January.

I personally love it. Not only do I have the #1 pick, but now I can entertain trading back a spot and still landing Spiller.

Spiller is special, and his ceiling is so high. Mathews is average--I don't see any way he's ever a top NFL back. I watch him, and I see Forte.

I'll gladly gamble on the high ceiling. If it doesn't work out, I'm pretty sure I can rather painlessly make a move for a RB of Mathews caliber.

Oh and all the people that love Mathews don't even know how to spell his name. That should tell you all you need to know about how long he's been on their radar.

Spiller's floor is JJ Arrington so you might want to temper your expectations just a bit thinking you can "painlessly make a move for a RB of Mathews caliber"- LOL. Months ago, Dwyer/Bryant were the top 2 picks.

Sure, that's his floor. But what's the point of talking about NFL rookies' floors? They're all potential busts. You think Mathews floor is any higher? I don't. I'll put it this way: Mathews is now the "safer" pick because he went to a team without much RB depth and a better offense. But Spiller is the home run pick. I suppose it depends on your draft strategy, but I've found a home run every few years in dynasty is what really wins championships and keeps your team competitive. Spiller's quickness, separation speed and tackle breaking are being greatly underrated in these internet parts. And I'm surprised.

So based on the voting so far, it looks like this:

1.01 Ryan Mathews

1.02 Dez Bryant

1.03 C.J. Spiller

1.04 Jahvid Best

This is how I feel. I would say that Mathews is above average, but I'm not seeing the type of ceiling that warrants the 1.1 pick. And, I've said this elsewhere that his situation may not be as rosy as many are making it out to be. In terms of opportunity, sure, he's got a golden opportunity. So did Forte. So did Kevin Smith. So did Slaton. I'd be wary of elevating him from where you had him ranked pre-draft just because of landing in SD. It would be one thing if Spiller landed somewhere like SF and was buried behind a true stud. He didn't.I know some are being scared off by landing in Buffalo and that anemic offense. However, keep this in mind:Buffalo was 8th in ypc in 2009 as a team.San Diego was 32nd in ypc in 2009 as a team. What does that mean? Well, for one, it means that landing in Buffalo does not mean that Spiller will definitely struggle. Those #'s were put up by Fred Jackson and Lynch. He may split time with them initially, but that will change soon. Possibly as early as this year (due to the high pick spent on him) and probably at latest by some point next year. It also means that SD's O-line isn't as good as some may think it was. Sure, LT is on his last legs, but both he and Sproles simply struggled mightily. And that was with guys like Rivers/VJax/Gates taking pressure off the run game. Honestly, looking at those #'s, I'd argue that Spiller actually landed in the better situation. So, unless you previously had Mathews over Spiller, the draft yesterday should not be changing that order.
