East Coast teams traveling West and vice versa (1 Viewer)

I wonder if anyone rankings are affected by this?

It always seems like the traveling team does not play well.

I am thinking seriously about sitting players from the Bears and Lions this week, as an example, because of this.

Anyone have any data on this?

I have no data but I'm guessing that these guys may be more affected the following week after the round trip has concluded, just a thought.

Yes, it has an affect. The human bodys clock gets messed up. Teams that travel East wind up playing 10:00 am games per their body clcok. The high humidty in Miami and lower air density in Denver also have an affect, especially in the 2nd half.

:goodposting: I agree with this and believe it gives the eastern teams an advantage.

This is the thing that seems to be the easiest for the NFL to address. If they would just start games with west coast teams playing in eastern time zone at 4:15 pm instead of 1:15 pm.

East coast bias

One of the guys on the Ottawa sports station yesterday went into a very long and detailed analysis of how teams from the west coast that travel to the southeast have historically struggled. He was making the argument that the Seahawks would have a difficult time adjusting to the combination of the heat and time difference in Tampa Bay and would struggle. He urged listeners to bet the farm on the Bucs to cover.

After about five or ten minutes of this, one of the co-hosts finally managed to get a word in, and inform him that the game was in Seattle.

Long silence.

Throw to commercial.
