Ed Dickson TE Baltimore... (1 Viewer)

Ed Dickson, Ravens - Meet your sleeper tight end of the week. Todd Heap (hamstring) is an extreme longshot to suit up Monday night, leaving Dickson as the starter against a Texans defense surrendering the most fantasy points to opposing tight ends. Dickson's seven targets in relief of Heap were second-most on the Ravens, and he would have racked up another 25 yards or so had he not dropped a ball right on his hands. The athletic rookie is going to be a top-12 fantasy option in Week 14.

Thoughts opinions and what we know about this guy

For those of us playing "the te shuffle" is he a valuable option :lmao:

This week HOUSTON.

You don't think Pitta may get some looks as well? I thought he was the better receiving TE of the two.

From FBG game reviews....does this answer your ?.Dickson, the rookie from Oregon, had a game to forget in this one. Drafted much more for his pass-catching abilities than his blocking abilities, Dickson was forced into a game plan that was much more suited for Todd Heap. He was like a square peg in a round hole because he was asked to block the always effective outside rushers of the Steelers. Even when he got out into coverage, Dickson had a bad moment. He dropped a beautifully lofted pass when the Ravens had caught the Steelers in a very bad scheme. Injured defensive end Brett Kiesel, coming off of a hamstring injury, ended up being the guy tasked with covering Dickson. Dickson clearly won the matchup and was streaking downfield. Flacco lofted the ball in, but Dickson bobbled it for what seemed like a full minute and dropped the ball seven yards later. He was also targeted on the failed 4th-and-2 that was the Ravens' last offensive play. It was not Dickson's fault, however. He made himself available in the flat, but Flacco left the pass short in the face of heavy pressure. Better times are ahead for this young player though. Should Heap miss any more time, the Ravens will adjust the gameplan to highlight Dickson's strengths and not expose him to any more mismatches like he faced while trying to block James Harrison in this game.

It doesn't answer the question. The author is guessing Dickson gets a better gameplan, and that the Ravens will adjust their passing offense to better suit him.

The Billy bajema experiment for my fantasy team didn't work out so well last week, so I cut him and picked up Dickson (Zach Miller was my #1). THey have a nice matchup. My fear is like others in that Dennis Pitta might see more action.

I'm really intrigued by this match-up. I currently have Olsen penciled in as my starter going up against a beatable NE defense but Dickson's match-up is just too juicy to ignore. Has Heap 100% been ruled out already? Since it's a Monday game, I'd hate to find out at the last minute that Heap will in fact play.

Baltimore homer here: Dickson is definitely the top receiving option. He took Heap's role vs. Pittsburgh, with Pitta getting some work as the blocking TE, but I don't think he had a single target. Meanwhile Dickson was the primary option on the play when Polamalu forced the fumble, was the secondary option on the 4th-and-2 and was targeted a few other times, including on one fade route in the end zone.

Heap didn't admit he was out yesterday (I think they want to keep Houston guessing) but everyone in Baltimore thinks he's definitely out. In today's Baltimore Sun, Heap even talked about hurrying back from a hamstring injury before and ultimately hurting it worse and missing the rest of the season; he said he'll be smart with this one and get healthy for the stretch drive.

I don't think Dickson is great, but he has a great matchup and he's definitely the #1 TE option for Baltimore until Heap returns. If you really need help, you could do worse.

Even if Heap does play Dickson will see action and Todd will get hurt in 5 minutes time anyhow. Heap needs to retire to go enjoy the rest of his life...with his hot wife. Every time Heap take sthe field it seems he is going to take that "one last hit". He's a good player; it's just not meant to be.

Dropped Boss for Dickson. It's a dice roll between Gronk, Hernandez, and Dickson for me...so I'm choosing the guy who had 7 targets last week and is going against a weak pass defense. Also, it's a Monday night game so it's nice to have one last straw/hope if it comes down to it.

I need a TE. Have to decide between picking up Dickson or Celek.

Celek was scooped last night, now my options are Dickson and Superstar Jimmy Graham. Can`t see Heap coming back for awhile since he said his hammy popped. Think I am rolling with Dickson.

For those of you gambling w/ Dickson based on this weeks matchup; who are you starting him over?

I'm contemplating playing him over Keller who has done next to nothing since about week 4.

1.5 PPR for my TE's.Starting him as my #4 flex WR/TE over Winslow, Marshall (Revis Island) and Mike Thomas.

I dropped Zach Miller for him. Starting Dickson over Shiancoe and Graham (yes carrying 3 TE's sucks). The tiebreaker for me vs. Graham is that my playoff opponent has Flacco vs. HOU pass D so hedging a little there.

Considering rolling him out over Olsen, Graham, and Shiancoe.Still worried Heap makes a ridiculous return on Monday night though. I'd feel much more comfortable if he was playing on Sunday.

What is Heaps status? Has he been ruled out yet?

Both Daniels and Dreesen are on the WW in my league where I grabbed Dickson, so if Heap somehow manages to play I will pick up one of the Houston tight ends...

Debating Dickson for Pettigrew. Dickson might have more upside, but Pettigrew is as steady a TE as they come this year in PPR.

Haven't made the final decision yet but I'm seriously thinking of starting him over Winslow.

I dropped Heap for Dickson. The matchup is too good and hammy's take weeks to get over. This late in the FF season its too late to hold on to Heap's roster spot. I am debating who I'll play between Jimmy Graham and Dickson. GTD for me. Tough call.ETA: And now Zach Miller is practicing fully and showed some good power blocking last week. He could be a sleeper TE this weekend against JAX.

I'm considering over Hernandez and Watson.

The only absolute is that he is in a dome and many other options entail snow/wind....and as a previous poster said to put Heap out their with a bad hammy against a poor pass defense anyway would not seem like a sound decision.Rolling with Dickson over Hernandez

Todd Heap (hamstring) missed practice on Saturday.

Heap has yet to practice this week after pulling his right hamstring in Week 13. He's almost certain to miss Week 14. Ed Dickson is expected to see a majority of the snaps in Heap's absence.

Source: Baltimore Sun

thinking about dickson over celek. especially since Justice is out and Celek will have to block all game

Was going to start him over Gonzo this week but it looks like Gonzo practiced in full on Friday. Will probably not be starting him over a healthy Gonzalez.

Starting Dixon over Z Miller and A Hernandez. Much easier decision than my RB's (Bradshaw, Best, Goodson, Choice, Starks).

This experiment does not look to be a good one at least so far with five minutes left in the first half. Dropped Boss for this guy.
