Eddie Lacey v D Richardson (1 Viewer)

Thoughts?

Lacey has ADP of 4.5

Richardson has ADP of 6.02

Richardson is clear cut #1 in STL. Is Lacey the clear cut # 1 in GB? If so, does the simple fact that GB has a bette offense make Lacey more appealing regardless of PPR or not?

I would rather have Lacy. I just think there's a higher upside there with his size and skill set. He might not be quite as dangerous as Richardson in the receiving game and that could shrink the gap a bit in PPR leagues, but I think he's a better candidate for a 300+ touch season.

I think Richardson will be more of a Warrick Dunn type of guy this year. Nice numbers, but maybe not the sheer volume needed to really make a big impact in FF.

First of all Lacy can catch just fine. I could see him catching 25+ as a rookie.

Second, I haven't seen Richardson run yet this preseason and didn't pay tons of attention to him last year, so I won't comment on him. I'll assume he earned the job and that Fisher sees him as having a lot of potential.

However, after watching Lacy's entire college career (and I wasn't hugely impressed to be honest) and seeing his role in last week's preseason tilt, plus the lack of progress of Franklin as a threat to his carries/3rd down role, I think Lacy represents great value at current ADP and could easily outperform his draft slot by a wide margin. He is not fast, but is decisive and possesses more elusiveness than most backs his size. In Green Bay, with all the weapons they have drawing safeties and linebackers away from the LOS, I think Lacy is an excellent bet to crack 1k yards as a rookie and haul in a nice bevy of catches as well. I will be targetting Lacy in the fifth of all my drafts this year if I haven't locked up RB by that point.

I've got Richardson and I would rather have Lacy.

But then again, I suck at judging RB talent.

I like them both.

Lacy has a great upside, but I do not think he will get the volume of work that everyone is expecting. When has McCarthy ever leaned on a running back and especially a rookie running back? Lacy has all of the tools needed to play at a high level this year, but I do believe that Rodgers will still be counted on in the redzone, (i.e. quick passes to Finley, Cobb or running it in 2-5 times himself). These redzone touches could go either way but I highly doubt McCarthy will shy away from what has worked in the past to rely on a rookie RB in those circumstances.

The Packers O-line is much more fragile than the Rams O-line and I believe that Fisher will lean on his running game more times than McCarthy will this upcoming season. Richardson out played Pead last year and has already been named the starter for this upcoming season. Fisher will use Richardson the same way he did Chris Brown in '05 and 06' prior injury. Richardson is not Steven Jackson'ish but more like Fred Jackson'ish. Not flashy nor beefy but should be consistently productive.

Again, I like both, but am leaning on Richardson a bit more this year and Lacy more as a dynasty pick.

Good comp (Dunn). I think that is a realistic role for Little Richard(son).

I think the best way to help the OLine is to slow down the pass rush by running the ball at them. Put Lacy down for 1200 and 10

If he stays healthy I agree.

IMO this isn't even close. Lacy by a mile. Lacy was a 1st round talent that slipped to the 2nd round in the draft because of injury issues that may hurt his longevity. DRich is a late 7th rounder that is undersized for a featured role. Richardson has proven to be better than his draft slot would lead you to believe, but he's not in Lacy's class talent wise. That doesn't even factor in the scoring differences we should expect from these offenses. The Packers have been a top 5 scoring offense five of the last six years. The Rams have been a bottom seven scoring offense for six years in a row.

I'm not sure if the question is whether I prefer Lacy to Richardson, or whether I prefer Lacy at his current ADP to Richardson at his. The answer changes depending on which you mean. Lacy to the first, Richardson to the second.

Lacy by a mile...without considering draft position.

But I wouldn't take Lacy in the 3rd. In the 5th-6th round, if he is still able to fall that far these days, all day every day.

If it's Lacy in the 3rd or Richardson in the 6th, I go Richardson. But if it's only 1 or 2 rounds difference, I'd rather have Lacy
