Edge... is *anyone* starting him against Chicago? (1 Viewer)

Raider Nation

Devil's Advocate
Curious who you're giving the nod to over James this week.

Tatum Bell is a no-brainer for me against Oakland for the first RB spot. :bag:

The other spot is more difficult. I have Foster, but he's playing an equally-feared Ravens defense in Baltimore. But with Williams being out, at least he'll get all the carries. My other option? I should probably be fitted for a straightjacket, but it's Ced Benson. The odds are good that he'll do better in mop-up time against Arizona than Edge will do in a full game against Chicago.

Note to the board cops. This is NOT a WSIS thread. This decision is not a big deal for me. My opponent is getting killed with the byes this week. Mainly interested in what everyone is doing with Edge this week.

I see 18/45/0, and 4/22/0. And it won't help matters that Fitz is out.

Portis is a no brainer for me... but for my RB2 - I'm definitely looking at Michael Turner against the 49ers over Edge... my only other non-bye option is LenDale White - I prefer the Burner...I'm trying to convince myself to start Turner... I definitely don't foresee more than 70 scrimmage yards from Edge - probably no TD (the Cards OLine will be eaten alive by the Bears dominant DLine)... Will Turner see enough pigskin to outscore Edge?...

Must start two and I only have two available.

If I had another option, I'd use it.

There's actually a silver lining - if I'm only down by a few points going into the MNF game, he at least gives me a shot to win. I'm expecting similar rush numbers to what you projected, but I def. think he'll catch more passes. Luckily, it's a PPR where I must play him.

Reason: if the Bears jump out to a big lead once again (which is a reasonable expectation), Leinart will be throwing a lot - and Edge has been the outlet.

6 catches and a total of 50 yards would be all I'm asking for.

I'm seriously thinking of sitting Edge and going with LT & Turner .... the Chargers are working Turner into games more and more and with LT in the slot or maybe even throwing ... :jawdrop: ... him a TD could be a great play!

:football:

Not sure if this is hijacking or not, but I'll ask anyway.

Is anyone else completely unsurprised that James has been garbage in Arizona? Furthermore, does anyone else believe that he was over-rated at Indy as a pure runner (blocking and pass-catching aside)?

I don't see Edge doing much of anything. They'll be blitzing the rookie quite a bit and stuffing the line. Without Fitz there, the Cardinals will have a rough, rough game...

Edge. Just ask him. He's been #####ing about not seeing the ball enough already for the last several weeks and that's when he's gotten more looks than just about anyone in the NFL.His mouth + that OL + 2300 carries + a contract he can't live up to = trouble in Edges future

He's 22nd on my Week 6 cheat sheet. I'm not particularly optimistic, though at least he'll get 15-20 touches in almost any scenario.

Guess: 16-52 rushing, 3-11 receiving, no touchdowns.

(And FWIW, Raider Nation, I have Foster at 21. Not that I'm married to the rank, but I guess I'd go Foster with Williams a confirmed out. At least that game should be close for the balance of the day, while Arizona is obvioulsy in danger of being blown out. But obviously this is pretty darn close to a coin flip.)

I have a choice between Edge and Gore. I'm sticking with Edge. In Primetime, I think he'll step it up.

My other back is LT. Edge will always get his touches, and I'm hoping he does something with them. Maybe put up 200 yards rushing like he did a few years ago...I'll take 130-150 total, and I'm a pretty positive guy.

I might be insane, but having LT gives me a little bit of rope.

I've been saying this for years. He is a nice back, but his eye-popping stats were a product of the Indy system and the surrounding talent. After his knee injury, he lost the burst that made him a "special" talent.

i got edge AND deshaun this week... with my only other option being cedric benson (im in a very deep 16 team league)...

lucky me...

Kind of the same situation, but also have Jordan against an equally tough Defense in Denver. What a tough match up for all of my guys this week except the burner. It will be an interesting week and I will basically be flipping a coin. It all comes down to who will get a TD and right now a coin flip is as good as any analysis I can find.Foster against BaltimoreJordan against DenverEdge against ChicagoTurner against San Fran

Unless you got good value out of Edge, this is exactly why I avoided him. If you take a player in the middle of the 1st round, you should not have to think about playing matchups with him.

I have:

Portis vs Tennessee (the no-brainer start of the week, Titans D is giving up 172.4 yards/game rushing at 4.7 ypc)

Edge vs Chicago (damn dat Bears D is good, allowing only 79.2 yard/game rushing at 3.9 ypc)

Dunn vs Giants (Gaints D is only allowing 86.5 yards/game rushing at 3.0 ypc)

Droughns vs the dreaded Bye Week (The Bye Week's D is holding opponents to a fig fat 0 yards rushing per game. This does not look like a favorable matchup for Ruben. Even in PPR leagues.)

Right now I'm heavily leaning towards Dunn over Edge.

S.Jax is my RB1

C.Taylor is my RB2, and he's on bye.

So it's between Edge vs CHI ..........or M.Barber vs HOUS.

Right now, I'm going with MB as I expect Dallas to try to take out their frustrations from week 5.

got TaterBell and DJax for Edge and Colston (not a TE)... edge still has glamour for some owners.... I guess we shouldn't be so harsh on JJ Arrington....

I benched McGahee last week against Chicago. I'm glad I did. I'm not an Edge owner, but I can't imagine he'll fare any better.

 Seriously, what the hell are you blathering about? Dude is currently 9th in RB scoring in my league and is only less than 2 points away from being 6th. He'll get blasted against CHI, but 90% of the other RBs will too.All that being said, Tatum is taking his place as a starter this week to go along with Westbrook. :bag:

Have you seen Rhodes/Addai?He's more than capable, but it's more apparent that o-line in AZ is killing him.

I think Edge will run well against Chicago.

Ahman went over a 100 yards against Chicago, which is a friggin miracle. Most RB's have averaged about 3.6 ypc against the chicago run D. The main reason I believe Edge can run the ball. I think the Arizona secondary will make some plays and keep Grossman under wraps. Chicago has been jumping out to leads and teams are abandoning the run, don't think Arizona will do that...

FWIW, I'm probably in the minority but I'm starting Edge over Gore.

I have lot chioces but not sure what do my self...(Edge(1st),Gore(6th),K. Jones(4th), Caddy (2nd) )KJ and Caddy have the match ups but Edge and Gore will get ton of touches if there teams do not get blown out.

My only choices this week are Edge or Benson.

I'm going with Edge & expecting 90-100 total yards, 60 of which will probably be receiving.

Let's all just pray for a garbage time TD...
