Okay, a post to discuss Edge this season... If there is a similar thread I overlooked, apologies in advance & please merge.

In 2006: 16 GP. Rushing: 337 ATT, 1159 YARDS, 3.4 AVE, 6 TD's. Receiving: 38 REC, 217 YARDS, AVE 5.7, 14 LONG, 0 TD. FUMBLES LOST: 3. Age 29, 9th season in the NFL.

Coaching changes in AZ -- specifically HC Ken Whisenhunt and O-Line Coach Russ Grimm (line was pretty ugly last year). Depending on what article of the day your reading about AZ, some call it a QB friendly system now that will allow the Cardinals to move the ball.

Curious to hear thoughts, comments, or otherwise about how you expect Edge will fare in '07. From a fantasy standpoint, are you calling him RB 1, 2, 3, or a player to avoid? Ideal flex player if your system allows it? Cheers,

ARI has the easiest running schedule in the league this year and the easist Passing schedule too. I look at it like this - if there EVER is a year that James can make some noise in ARI it is this one. I view him as a RB2 with RB1 potential at maybe a RB3 price- despite the questions on the O-line.

Edge does not like GL work enough to be a true #1 RB - I think his limit is a #2 RB. However I have seen him drop enough so that he can he drafted as your #3.I think the article about it was either posted here in the Shark Pool.

I think Edge has lots of upside this year.

1. Russ Grimm should help improve Arz's O line.

2. Ken W. is a run oriented Coach.

3. The O line and Edge showed life at the end of the year.

4. Matt's second year should be better and take more off of Edge.

5. Great run Schedule.

6. For the first time in edge's career he will have a lead blocker in Fb Terelle Smith.

All added up I look for Edge's #'s to be greatly improved this year.

I'm looking forward to him having a better year than last year. he turned it on at the end and I think they have more emphasis on the run this year. he is my RB2 with jackson my RB1. Of course, being in MN, I did not think much of Denny Green as a coach...the problems were ALWAYS someone else's fault. glad to see him out of AZ.

I was actually just thinking about this a lot tonight while looking over my RB projections and was going to post a topic about it

Aside, from the fact that he's a year older, I don't see whats not to like about him

-He should get at least 300 carries and his YPC should improve because:

1) New coaching staff more committed to the run/better team that should have more leads and therefore burn some clock time with the running game

2) A more experienced Leinart with improving rapport with Fitz, Boldin, Johnson should take focus off Edge

3) A great, new OLine coach and a should be very good new LT in Levi Brown

Barring injury, I think he's a shoe-in for 1200/200, with upside around 1350/325

I think the big ? is TD's. I can quite possibly see him only getting 6-7 again, but I could also see him with the potential for 12 total with an improved offense and more red zone opps. Im thinking he ends up with 9-10, but like I said, his TD total is about as hard to predict as any Top 20 RB with what I see as a 6 TD room for error.

I like him, but with this in mind I think it's all circumstantial as if he's worth the pick where you're at. I think anything above mid-2nd is a slight reach, and even late 2nd it might be hard to pull the trigger if that's where I'm picking because I think I'd rather have CJ, Holt, or Owens and then grab a guy with more upside early 3rd like Jacobs or ADPeterson because if you're picking in this position, you should have a Top 4 RB already from your first pick and near-guaranteed 1750 yds and 14 TD's right there.
